re: Least Deserving Successful Movies of all time.

Okay...I came up with 45. My pick for least deserving is..drum roll..Planet of the Apes (2001) That was just horrible. The original one was so much better...even if it was incredibly cheesy...

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.

Excellent choice. Talk about a ton of hype adding up to nothing. And I rather liked the original trilogy, too. Also in that category is the aforementioned Matrix: Reloaded, which was so awful that my friends and I went out, got a pizza, and watched Down With Love just to recover. The latter movie looked absolutely brilliant in comparison.

Gee, I hated "Down With Love". But, what's with this list? It isn't accurate at all. By whose estimation are these the 100 Most successful Films of all-time. Also, there's no consideration for inflation. Most of these films wouldn't be on a real 100 most successful films of all-time list. My choice for least deserving is "The Perfect Storm".

Oh, don't get me wrong. Down With Love wasn't all that wonderful. But coming directly after the bombardment of idiocy that was Matrix: Reloaded, it was downright great.

Oh, okay, I get your point. I probably shouldn't admit this here, but I went to see both Amedeus and The Terminator, on the exact same night. I saw The Terminator first, and loved it, then went to see Amedeus, and felt bored to tears! While I've grown to appreciate Amedeus, more, it's still not as good a film as The Terminator.

I really liked it on stage, but felt less than thrilled with the film, although there was much to like about it.

Titanic. I didn't have to go any further down the list to choose.
"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

No, this list is not adjusted for inflation. "Gone With The Wind" would be number 1 (because of its many re-released), "Star Wars" is number 2 and "The Sound of Music" is number 3. I'm sure it can be found on the internet, somewhere.

I got 22.

I had a list of undeserving films:
The Exorcist (2000)
Pearl Harbour
Star Wars: Episode 1 & 2
Indepedence Day
Men in Black II

but the least deserving:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

It was awful. Nothing like what was in my head. The first two were (and I liked them). This one ruined the films for me.

Gump, Forrest Gump? Easily THE most over-rated movie of all time. And I would disagree about the Lord of the Rings "Trilogy", to me it is one looooooong film cut up into three parts. None of them stand on their own with a beginning, middle and end.
PEACE.

any of the three LOTR movies...omg could i like anything less??

i was in dublin when i got DRAGGGGGGGGGED to the second one, and i tried to sleep through it but it was too loud so i ended up watching it. icky. i also get equally dragged to the first and third ones in montreal...and couldn't stomach those either. i just don't understand that appeal.

#8 Spider-Man 2 (2004)

#24 The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

#33 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

#42 The Exorcist (2000)

#77 Planet Of The Apes (2001)

#82 There's Something About Mary (199re: Least Deserving Successful Movies of all time.

SPORTI... HOW CAN YOU EVEN SAY THAT? I LOVE ALL THREE OF THE LOTR MOVIES, I AM A HUGE FAN, AND I SAW THE MOVIES EACH NUMEROUS TIMES. I THINK THEY ARE WONDERFULLY DONE, THE SCENES ARE BEAUTIFUL, AND THE ACTORS ARE TERRIFIC. I THINK THEY DESERVE TO BE EVEN HIGHER ON THE LIST. I LOVE THE MOVIES, AND THEY REFLECT THE MASTERPIECES OF J.R.R. TOLKIEN. PETER JACKSON TRIED TO FOLLOW THE STORY AS FAITHFULLY AS POSSIBLE, AND THE MOVIES FINALLY GOT THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVED WHEN THE LOTR: ROTK RECEIVED ALL 11 OSCARS IT WAS NOMINATED FOR, AND BECAME THE FIRST EVER EPIC STORY TO RECEIVE BEST PICTURE OSCAR.

i'll admit, some of the cinematography is great (however, not on imax - it turns all blurry.)

but i still just couldn't get into them. not my style i guess.

but it's perfectly okay if you like them. no need to shout.

re: Least Deserving Successful Movies of all time.

sorry the uppercase didn't really mean shouting. i was just trying to get my point across. I am not really a big fan of fantasy, but LOTR are my favorite movies of all time. The movies are terrific, and I'm glad they made all 3 movies at the same time, becuase it made it more realistic to me.
