Lee Strasberg is turning over in his grave...

at the way The Actor's Studio has become the whore of Babylon.

CAMERON DIAZ? Did any of you see the latest edition of "Inside The Actor's Studio"? I Tivo'd it and watched it last night -- mainly out of disbelief and curiosity, because I just couldn't believe Diaz was going to be a guest.

Mercy, mercy, mercy -- she went over like a lead balloon, what with her obsequious giggling and lame attempts to win over the audience. She didn't, by the way. I mean, what is there to say about THE MASK and CHARLIE'S ANGELS? It was hilarious when they cut to shots of the audience -- you could see the smirks on their faces.

LOL But seriously, it would be refreshing to see some honest-to-god theatre people sitting opposite James Lipton. Not the green gal, though -- her ouevre is seriously lacking.

It took Cameron Diaz for you to feel this way? I was pretty much done when he had Jennifer Lopez on.

There are some great people that have not been interviewed for this program and should be!! Once Lipton got his fat behind secure with the show, I think he decided to attract a younger audience and ditch the idea that this was a way to preserve interviews with people who had many years of experience (and who may not necessarily be interviewed by the mainstream media).

Am I the only one who was always suspicious of the fact that his characters were always named Tony? Like he wasn't bright enough to answer to anything else?

You mean the way Mary Tyler Moore was usually called "Mary" in shows after The Dick Van Dyke show? Or the way Lucille Ball was always called "Lucy" in every series she did? Yeah, it must be about stupidity. That pair's a regular confederacy of dunces.

I'd kill my mother for an in-depth interview with the likes of Julie Harris re: her theatrical career. Although I'm not sure I want Lipton to do it -- he'd probably focus in on her run in KNOT'S LANDING or something...

I'm with you Rath on the J-Lo episode. I had to do a double take when I was flipping channels. My first reaction, "what the ???" Phoney is the first word that comes to mind. I'm just Jenny from the block my arse.

I really liked when Bette Midler was on with the exception during the group picture when someone started singing "Wind Beneath My Wings" and was joined by everyone else. It made me cringe.

They should do back to back episodes with the Wilson brothers.
I wish someone would introduce those two to cosmetic surgery. Owen to get that nose fixed and Luke to get an upper lip.

the show lost me with JLo and Jay Leno. Leno? Inside the ACTOR'S Studio... since when is Leno an actor?

You mean you HAVEN'T seen the episode of "Alice" where Leno was a burglar or something? You wouldn't recognize him if you only know him from The Tonight Show.

I keep trying to catch the Philip Seymour Hoffman episode, but they air that about once a year at 4AM or some ungodly hour, while they will continue to run the Cameron Diaz, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Lopez episodes constantly. Was there really a need for a Naomi Watts episode? I know she was in The Ring, I heart Huckabees, and Mullholland Drive, but has she done anything else?

Why not feature actors like John C. Reilly, Tim Curry (me on my Spamalot kick again, but he'd be fascinating) and Jim Carrey....at least they'd be interesting.

The Cameron Diaz episode was annoying. She was SO trying to play to the crowd, which would be okay...except she was so ridiculous about it. And I agree with the person who commented that The Mask and Charlie's Angels aren't exactly 4 star cinema.

Grr.
There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.
