Which is your favorite late night host?
I love Leno, Kimmel, and Conan (dislike Letterman,) but if I had to choose one I would say Conan O'Brian.
Letterman by far.
Conan is second.
Can't stand Leno.
Conan.
Then, in terms of comedy, I like Letterman more, but in terms of interviews, I like Leno more.
Letterman and Conan. The other two you can keep.
I think Jimmy Kimmel is HYSTERICAL.
Letterman makes me fall asleep.
Johnny Carson.
Then Leno. Then Letterman. Then O'Brian. Don't like Kimmel at all.

I was talking about current...
I dont understand how people can't like Kimmel. His Friday night FCC bit is HYSTERICAL, and he's literally so funny. I just think people don't give him a chance.
For me, my indifference (not really dislike) toward Kimmel stems from when he co-hosted The Man Show on Comedy Central. Just didn't find it funny or entertaining on any level. Too "Hetro" for my taste.
I concur entirely.
Well I'm talking about THE JIMMY KIMMEL SHOW - it's great. THE MAN SHOW was awful.
Same Hetro.
Kimmel's show is no more hetero or for men than Leno, Letterman, or O'Brian's....
Just don't care for Kimmel's brand of humor. And he reminds me of someone who would have a really hairy ass and only bathes once a week.
And drinks with a beer bong and owns a Girls Gone Wild cap.
exactly.

I'm lovin' him right now, Mattio!
Letterman, followed closely by Conan. I love the "Walker, Texas Ranger" lever.
I'm over the Masturbating Bear though.
Not that I was ever under...it.

Gotta love Preperation-H Raymond, Robot on a Toilet, and of course, my favorite, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog!
Kimmel is alright... FOR ME TO POOP ON!

For me Letterman set the standard for the form with his NBC show back in the 80s - smart, irreverent, unpredictable, inventive, he took the Carson prototype to a whole other level (and everyone since has copied him -- but never reached him at his peak). For ten years he was on a plane above everyone else (and is still pretty good).
In the last several years, though, Letterman as seemed bored and burnt out and generally out of ideas. I still love him for what he was previously, but he's a shadow of is former self and should retire soon.
Leno is a talentless hack and an embarassment to the genre. Kimmell's not worth mentioning.
O'Brien is the current gold standard in late night, very much in the mold of the moldof the old Letterman show, but with his own style and energy and vigor. A constently funny show and he's become a good interviewer. The best thing on late night, by far.

Margo... you said a mouthful! Can always count on you to succinctly sum things up.
Too bad we have to wait five years for Conan to replace Leno.

Well, I still like Leno...
But Conan is awesome!
