I think someone told my mom it was too adult for me (12 years old), but I watched the concert anyway and was blown away.

You can already tell my favorite character is Gavroche...but I like Eponine too.
12 shouldn't be too young, at least in my opinion. My parents were pretty damn strict, and they still let me watch it when I was eight. There are the occasional swear words in Master of the House, but if that's the reason, I say hit fast-forward. It's too good to hoard.
Edited because I'm stupid at night.

I brought the tape to music class, and my music teacher told me no Master of the House, just stuff like Bring Him Home. I chose One Day More, and everyone was staring at me for lip-synching to it. In fact, I was almost about to stand up and belt out the whole damn thing!
I saw it first when I was 5...
I am right this second listening to it in Hebrew - my 14th recording (well, 15th in my possession - one is on the way) of the show...
I was eight when I first saw it. No seven. Wait. Seven. I'm pretty sure. About the only things I didn't understand were prostitutes and suicide and I had my parents explain them to me. Love this musical. It was the first big musical I went to and I sat still for two hours and forty five minutes entranced by it all. It'll always be one of my favorites.
Wow Thenardier that's amazing about all the recordings you have. I've only got four. Drive my parents crazy with that, but that's okay. Actually they don't know I have the CSR so that's fine.
Did you draw that?
Oops.
I probably realized you can't.
It is the Czech costume design drawing by Lucie Loosová.

Oh okay. Sorry really tired today. Late night with the boyfriend and seeing Miss Saigon again so I'm a bit out of it. That's a good drawing though and really cool.
Other than maybe the prostitute thing, I'd say LES MIZ is fine for a 12 year-old. I know I enjoyed it as a child of 7.
Me too. I enjoyed it immensely. It was an incredible experience to have and I've slowly gotten some of my friends to enjoy Les Miz over the years. It's taken them long enough.
I saw it when I was...13 I think. I had to read the plot in the playbill to follow and we were really far back, and while I remember enjoying it, I don't remember loving it the way I would Rent or even Phantom. It wasn't until a couple of years ago when I came across the 10th Anniv. Concert in a library that I finally fell in love with it-I guess I had to be a tad older to appreciate all of its themes and I think bad seats didn't help, but now I certainly put it up there with Phantom. The music is just so pretty, and it's such a beautifully written tragedy.
I saw it when I was 7...and have loved it ever since!
But then again this is how the dinner table conversation went:
Me: Mom, why did Fantine die?
Mom: Because she got sick.
Me: Why did she get sick?
Mom: Because she was a prostitute
Me: What's a prostitute?

My parents were crazy strict, not letting me watch PG-13 movies til I was 17 haha but I grew up with the Les Mis OBCR on, and saw the show when I was 9 and became obsessed. LES MIS RULES!
Okay, I know this is awful, but I have NEVER seen Les Mis! Do I have to have my Theatre Geek card revoked or something? I'm so ashamed
Yes, you do.

I saw the tour when it rolled around. My mom and I were driving around, and we saw that Les Mis was playing. I said to her, "MOM! YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS! MOM, PLEASE!!!" So we checked out the tickets and got really good seats. I was too tired and shy for autographs, but I really wanted to see the little boy that played Gavroche. He was so cute, and he had the audience clapping every time he sung one note. Everyone else was great too, especially the understudy for Javert and Eponine.
