Seriously?
WASHINGTON ? The Obama administration is asking the Supreme Court to overrule a 23 year-old decision that stopped police from initiating questions unless a defendant's lawyer is present, the latest stance that has disappointed civil rights and civil liberties groups.
While President Barack Obama has reversed many policies of his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, the defendants' rights case is another stark example of the White House seeking to limit rather than expand rights.
Obama legal team wants to limit defendants' rights
Wouldn't that violate their Miranda Rights?
Even if not, I wonder why he chose this battle. Was there a catalyst that precipitated his feeling the need to do this?

The article says the administration admits that few prosecutions have been prevented by the existence of the rule, but they want it eliminated anyway.

The Justice Department, in a brief signed by Solicitor General Elena Kagan, said the 1986 decision "serves no real purpose" and offers only "meager benefits." The government said defendants who don't wish to talk to police don't have to and that officers must respect that decision.
Must? Do the officers know that?
I'm with Matt. The officers MUST do that? Yeah, right.
The same genius who decided this musta been the one who decided to have a plane buzz downtown Manhattan this week.

But of course the buck stops with the O. Which he admits. Which is refreshing.
I think I heard somewhere there's a memo saying somebody intended to keep the NYC fly-by a secret. Which was simply bril and not what the administration said they wanted after the fact.
I can't believe Bush would do this! What an ass hole! He's a criminal, taking away our rights! I hate hate hate him!
Oh, what? It's Obama's administration?
This is a great decision! What else can I say to offer him my support? I better go back to praying at the Altar of Barack!

Judas, your overkill adds nothing to this thread. In fact, it detracts from it.

It's your thread, Namo, so it's removed.
I don't think he was talking to you, Q.
I think he was talking to JudasIscariot.
Did you think he called you "Judas"?
LOL!
I was wondering why Q got offended.
What's the opposite of a "Messiah Complex"?
A "Traitor Complex"?

Ha - that's funny!
I DID think he was talking to me, because I was a little 'pointed' in my disgust over some things. Although, I did think he was a little off the mark, as I never really embraced Mr. Obama in the first place.
Oh, well - I guess this makes it clear how much I notice Judas' posts
And for the record, I wasn't disgusted - I just edited and moved on.
