DIdn't Alan Menken do the song (actually maybe Schwartz did the lyrics?) I know he did the score. I also remember hearing there were some major issues with the film--like originally it was meant to be more of a musical, and at any rate a lot of stuff was cut, but now I can't seem to find that info anyway so I could be completely messed up.

James Lapine had already done the underated Impromptu before though--film wise. About Chopin with a cast that included Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin, Julian Sands, Julie Davies and Hugh Grant.

No, I own the DVD. But just for you, I did wiki the credits and it is his wife. :)
