I was thinking about Christmassy movies and songs and thought of a film I haven't seen in years: Life With Mikey. Michael J Fox plays a former child star who runs a talent agency with his brother (Nathan Lane). Their receptionist is Cyndi Lauper. It was James Lapine's first film and featured a great song by Stephen Schwartz "It's Cold Enough to Snow."
I also remember lots of Broadway star cameos (Victor Garber? William Finn?) and lots and lots of little kids singing Broadway songs. Anyone else remember this? I think it was 1993?

Posted: 12/27/12 at 11:54amI loved Life with Mikey growing up. The kid who keeps doing monologues from The Odd Couple is great.

Posted: 12/27/12 at 12:02pmI saw it on tv a few years ago. I forget which channel had it on though. I might also have it on VHS somewhere that my grandma taped.

I saw it when it first came out. I liked the cameos. Some of the kids drove me nuts with their annoying schtick and cloying 'tudes. That was a big turnoff.
But all in all, I liked the movie (enough) as I recall.

Posted: 12/27/12 at 12:24pmI can't remember if I liked it at the time but I do remember the songs. The main plot was about a runaway or something Mikey gets a commercial deal? It didn't make much of an impression. I mostly recall David Krumholz as the abusive "cereal King" and the kid doing The Odd Couple. And was there an Ethel Merman impersonator?

“Life with Mikey.” Wow, what a reference.
I forget most of this movie because the last time I saw it was probably when it came out on video, when I was about 12.
But I’ll never forget David Krumholtz lashing out in exasperation while filming a cereal commercial, “What am I – Job?!”

He was oscar-worthy in AFV. He's awesome in Mikey, he even manages to do a good job in crap like The Santa Clause. There was some movie with Alan Arkin as his dad that was just amazingly amusing- I can't recall the name. He played a young aspiring actor and he sang "Luck be a Lady" in some ratty white briefs.

I have no clue what you're trying to suggest but I feel it requires a response:
How dare you?!
