I know... I know... yet another... but you're all soooo smart and I could definitely use the help....
soooo...
What are good songs to audition with for the role of 'Meg' in "Little Women," the musical? Or can anyone think of any musicals that are similar so that I can look up songs within it?
merci.

Posted: 12/20/06 at 12:44amYour so lucky to be doing Little Women. I love the show, book and movie. I also desperate to do it next year for out fall musical because I want to do it before i leave highschol and next year will be my last year (officially) but the teacher that is going to direct the musical next year is on maternity leave so my plan is to drop constant hints for it when she comes back... hopefuly she hasn't choosen what it is she's doing yet.

We just did that show
Try "How Could I Ever Know" from The Secret Garden.
For our auditions they picked selections from the show, but look into that song.
But if you REALLY want the role, and you're allowed to, I'd sing from the show.

Posted: 12/20/06 at 9:55pmI'm pretty sure Meg isn't belty, she is the soprano of the show. "How Could I Ever Know" Is a good choice. I always thought it kind of taboo to sing a song from the show, because the director probably has a very clear idea of how they want the character to sing that song, and there is a slim chance you will sing it exactly that way. Just represent YOURSELF as best you can with a song you are comfortable with and you feel shows off what you do best.

Posted: 12/21/06 at 12:28amOh, maybe you can sing "The Boy Next Door" from Meet Me In St. Louis. It's a mezzo song I'd say. But I think it would be appropriate for Meg's character.
