It was literally not that bad.
Believe me, I was prepared for much worse.

Goodness knows there have been times in my own life when I've wanted to throw in the towel, so to see someone continue to fight her own fight - damn the odds - I just have to say, "Brava!"

Namo, I'm pretty sure by simply invoking the name Liza Minnelli you get an automatic six month extension on your gay card. I didn't see it, but the usual guy is Billy Stritch, so maybe it was him?
She's really hit or miss at this point, but she does still hit. I saw her live at a casino in Indiana (I KNOW) last summer and she wasn't in top voice, but she put on a good show.

She was entertaining.
Here is a link to her. It links to other interviews, but this is biggest part. At one point he asks her why she is a gay icon, and she said something like "they have better taste."

Here she is singing "But the World Goes Round."
I kind of now regret not getting tickets to see her at the Bowl.

Sometimes you lose every nickel you had
But the world goes 'round
Sometimes your dreams get broken in pieces
But that doesn't alter a thing
Take it from me, there's still gonna be
A summer, a winter, a fall and a spring and a Liza Minnelli!

Posted: 8/15/09 at 8:51pmNo trick question, Namo! Liza always sings better when Billy Stritch plays for her.

Well, when you have a mutual admiration/ love society with Liza Minelli, Sam Harris and Laurie Beechman, then you've got my vote.
Plus I've got a wonderful "Liza" story from a loooong time ago that will put her in my "best memories" book forever.
The woman still does it all...or at least tries to. :)

"...Liza Minelli..."
I hereby sentence you to recite, 10 times aloud, the lyrics to the second verse of "Liza with a Z," in which Liza instructs us how to NOT misspell her last name:
And that is only half of it!
There's another way
Fate treats me cruelly.
How often I remember someone saying,
"There she goes, Lisa Minooli!"
Or Mi-NO-li...or Miniola...or Mini-LEE...or Mini-LIE,
So is it a wonder, I very often cry:
It's M-I-Double N,
then-E-Double L-I,
You double up the N, that's nnnnn, not noo.
Then E, double the L, end it with an I,
That's the way you say Minnelli!
Liza Minnelli!
(It's Italian.
Blame it on papa.)
What can I do?

Fantastic interview.
But is it me, or is she sounding much more like Mama as she gets older?
