So touching...

Her actor/son Corbin Bernsen had been informing fans of her condition via Facebook, where he confirmed her death today. “My mother passed away this morning just a short time ago, peaceful with my sister by her side, in her sleep. I was going to visit this afternoon, thought I had time. Reminder to self – time is a precious thing. I too am at peace however. I said my goodbyes several times over during the last few weeks.

“I’ll go one last time now for a gentle kiss a final farewell for this lifetime,” he continued. “She has been a blaze her entire life, that beacon, that boxer I spoke of earlier. She went the full twelve rounds and by unanimous decision… won! And while her light finally gave into the wind that gives flight to all our journeys, there will always be a glimmer left behind by what she stood for. I will speak about that more in coming days, months I suppose. I will certainly dedicate what remains of my life to continue her purpose of honesty, equality, humility, empathy and love.”

Very touching tribute from her son.

I'm also a 40-year viewer of Y&R, and will miss her wonderful performance day in and day out. The show won't be the same...

Thank you for many years of touching and wonderful entertainment. RIP.

My mom watched the soap for years, so I'd catch it often. Recently I saw she was still on and I thought, "wow, I wonder how much longer she'll be on," and then the hospitalization reports were appearing, and then how they developed her character to having health problems recently. I was hoping I didn't jinx it! It will be interesting to see how they'll deal with it.

A brilliant actress, and while Eric Braeden would probably beat me up for saying this, IMHO the only true star created by Y&R (not to take away from her impressive earlier career.) I also will miss her interviews, one of the few soap stars who had no qualms about outright saying when she thought the writing was bad, or she had to act next to "hair models" with no experience...

She also was really the only tie Y&R still has to its first decade before it was completely rebuilt around the new 80s families the Newmans, etc, (OK Jill was around back then too, but she was played by the camptastic Brenda Dickson back then.)

Anyway, one of her classic scenes (and one of THE classic soap scenes, period), from I believe 1975 where she drunkenly signs the divorce papers after Jill first snags her husband. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR7qpOSpejM

I saw this on FB too, and Corbin's posts were heartbreaking. She will be sorely missed. And I agree - please no re-cast!
