Looking at music Colleges... HELP!#1

I'll be a senior in highschool next year, and I'm starting to apply at colleges in about 6 months. I want to study Vocal Perfromance and/or Musical theatre (a double major would be best).

I'm currently looking at:
Oklohoma City University
University of North Texas
UT Austin
NYU
Manhattan School of Music


Does anyone have any suggegstions, or can you tell me about any of these schools? My parents won't let me go to a conservatory for my first four years. I get lots of college mail, but it all says the same thing (supportive teachers, big libraries, small student to teacher ratio and tasty meals). I would like to have some imformation of what the school is ACTUALLY like, and if it will help me grow as a singer and actress.

The Hartt School of Music has one of the top musical theatre programs. We also have a vocal performance major which isn't as well-known but it's a big school for MTs! We're in the top 10! It's part of the University of Hartford!

I'll be a freshman at OCU next year in the MT program. Just from my expirences with the school thus far, I can tell its a fantastic place to be. The professors and students are all very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. Plus they have a brand spankin' new music facility which is FABULOUS.

Boston Conservatory has an amazing MT program and vocal performance program. If you're an MT your voice teacher also teaches vocal performance and vice versa...obviously. BoCo is known for their vocal teachers especially!

We were the first conservatory in the US! Hatcha cha. Top 5 for MT. Get it.

Well, Manhattan School of Music is a Conservatory.

I'm glad to see you have all these schools in mind. I wanted to go to the top musical theatre schools as well but sadly we couldn't afford them Best of luck to you though!

I currently go to Brandeis University, where I am doing exactly what you want: double-majoring in Music (Vocal Performance concentration) and Theatre (Musical Theatre Concentration). I highly recommend it!
