Ooh, gotta agree about Before Sunrise and Before Sunset (esp the latter). But I loved Lost in Translation, too. There were elements of myself and history in the lead female characters of both LIT and Before Sunset that I really connected with in an odd way.
And Before Sunset was a wonderful tour through parts of Paris. Loved it.

Starring Bill Murray and some woman you'll never hear from again. A tiresome useless "movie about a pair of bored boring people who wander around in a hotel for a while. The most appallingly over-rated movie since whatever beat any Lord Of The Rings movie for Best Picture, Lost In Translation is all artful posing and would-be emotion-filled non-scenes that lead ever-so-artfully exactly nowhere, because you know, it's more artistic if a movie just wanders around for about two hours without anything happening, right"
That's fine with me. My main criterion in judging film and stage is that it take me somewhere else. I was totally transported in LIT and lived every "boring" minute of it, entranced. Kudos to the production in having done that so well. One of my all time favorite films. Now I'm in the mood to see it tonight!

what planet do you live on?
If you're not sure, go to IMDB and type in "Scarlett Johansson".

I live on the planet where people can recognize useless chicks pretending to be actresses in useless movies pretending to be "art." What planet are you on?
Yeah, looks like that chick in that movie is having a busy year. Good for her. Maybe she's terrific in other things. She was useless in LOST IN TRANSLATION, but it was a pretty useless movie, so I guess she fit in perfectly. Maybe a better director can get something vaguely resembling a performance out of her. I'd suggest keeping lots of strong black coffee on set, and maybe setting up an I.V. for her.

I was replying to Neddy Frank in that post, and not you. Anyway, why are you so angry about a film and an actress?
As for what planet I'm on. Earth. The comment that was made was that LIT starred an actress we'll never hear from again. You couldn't have been more incorrect. So my comment was spot on. Whether or not you think she's talented makes no difference, we've more than heard from her again. And again, and again, etc. That's the point.
Good day now.

It's incredibly over-rated but still alright.
