No mention of his role in "The King and I"...

LOS ANGELES - Actor Lou Diamond Phillips was released from jail on his own recognizance Friday following his arrest earlier for allegedly physically abusing his live-in girlfriend.
"The city is not going to bring any charges," said Jonathan Diamond, a city attorney's spokesman. "Our office reviewed the case today and referred it to the city attorney's hearing program. The parties will come in and sit with one of our attorneys, who will try to mediate the situation."
Phillips, best known for his roles in "La Bamba" and "Stand and Deliver," was initially taken into custody for investigation of felony domestic violence, Ofc. Marjan Mobasser said.
Officers were called about 2 a.m. to a home in the Northridge section of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, Mobasser said.
"Phillips got into a verbal altercation with his live-in girlfriend which eventually escalated into physical abuse," Mobasser said.
The officer did not know whether the girlfriend, who was not identified, sustained any injuries or whether she was taken to the hospital.
Phillips was released around 12:15 p.m., Ofc. Jason Lee said.
The actor's publicist, Erik Bright, said the incident "was a misunderstanding."
In recent years, Phillips has made a number of guest appearances on TV, including "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "24."

"No mention of his role in "The Kind and I"...
... or BATS.
This reminds me...
Last month, I was visiting some relatives and we couldn't think of the actor's name who played in LA BAMBA. We were all clutching at straws, trying to come up with the name when my sister-in-law suddenly blurted:
"BLUE DIAMOND PHILLIPS!"
It was quite comical.
*no audience response so he exits left*

Posted: 8/11/06 at 10:21pmYou know, when your first wife leaves you for Melissa Etheridge and then years later says, "You know... I'm NOT a lesbian after all," you are left with a few issues.

Posted: 8/11/06 at 10:32pmI'd say she has a few issues of her own. Either she is or she isn't a lesbian. Maybe she should have figured that out before she left her husband and then left her female partner.

Posted: 8/11/06 at 10:38pmWhat are you talking about? I was referring to the post about his first wife leaving him because she was, then wasn't, a lesbian. She surely has issues. I stand by that post.

So which is it: She has issues because she WAS a lesbian, or because she ISN'T a lesbian anymore?

As I said earlier, she has issues because:
Either she is or she isn't a lesbian. Maybe she should have figured that out before she left her husband and then left her female partner.

So, she's a lunatic because she's got issues with being a lesbian? I mean, because she isn't one?

Are you talking about Anne Heche? I didn't know she was married to Lou.

You people are nuts. Anne Heche was with Ellen, the other famous lesbian, not Melissa. His wife was Julie Cypher. She met Melissa on a video shoot. She left Lou. She was with Melissa for like 12 years or something. (She had an affair with k.d. lang that she got Melissa's permission to do beforehand, but that's a different story.) Then in couples therapy, she told Melissa that she wasn't sure she was a lesbian she had just fallen in love with Melissa years before. They have two children and Julie still works for gay and lesbian causes. The point of this thread with the fact that Lou is apparently not right in the head. I was making a joke about Julie leaving being a stab at his ego.
And Jimnysf, there are bisexual people in the world without issues. I don't happen to be one of them as I have more issues than Reader's Digest, but some are pretty normal.
Speaking of Melissa, her new wife is having twins in the fall. yikes.
