I Love Lucy was in a league of it's own, but I also loved "The Lucy Show" and here is one of my favorite episodes...here is part 4, also watch part 5.
Vivian Vance is perfect!

I've always remembered this episode--one of my favorites!
And yes, Viv is wonderful. I always say (provocatively, if not quite accurately) I like Lucy, I LOVE Ethel.

Posted: 8/5/10 at 3:19pmDoodle, I used to do that, too! I don't remember which ones, but every once in a while there'll be an episode of something on TVLand, and I'll realize that I know not only every word of dialog but the music cues as well.

LOL...I think that's the only one I taped because TLS came on during school, so it must have been on a holiday or when I was home sick, but I loved it so and rarely got to see it.
I had all the rest of the regularly rerun stuff memorized anyway (Gilligan, Brady Bunch, Munsters, etc.)

Vivian Vance was one of the most talented, under-appreciated actresses. Did you know that she was supposed to be the original Mrs. Mullin in "Carousel"?
"I remember as a little kid taping this on my tape deck and listening to the cassette...ahhh, life before vcrs!"
I did the same thing.

Posted: 8/5/10 at 4:35pmI always loved whenever Ethel sang--particularly "Lily of the Valley," where she switches from her operetta soprano to her bluesy voice.

doodlenyc, I did the same thing in terms of taping the "I Love Lucy" episodes from a tape recorder.
I just got Season 3 of "Here's Lucy," with the Richard Burton/Elizabeth Taylor episode on it. Very, very funny.

Viv really should have played Vera in the glorious movie version of MAME. Vance was much better singer than Bea Arthur.
Those two together are magic.

Posted: 8/7/10 at 8:06amAlright, you darling divas, maybe you can help. I have this very vague memory of a show with Lucy and her guest star was Shelley Winters. The plot revolved around her losing weight. I remember at one point she had a pizza stashed in the record player. At the end of the show, Shelley was thin and Lucy was huge. I remember being freaked out by it. lol Have you seen this? Did I make it up? Was Shelley actually thin at that point? I have no idea why that stayed with me, but I must have been teeny and couldn't figure out how they did it.

Here you go, Amber: (Link to IMDB page on that episode)
BTW: Shelley Winters was never "thin," but up until "The Poseidon Adventure" she had a rather voluptuous figure. She famously gained weight for TPA, and never lost it.
