The sad thing is, that area STILL doesn't have tsunami detection equipment installed in the ocean that would, at the very least, give residents there some type of official tsunami warning. Experts says that's the only area still without the equipment. I thought our government was going to help pay to have some installed...

I work for a TV net... I can remember doing a story shortly after the tsunami where federal officials were applauding themsevles for taking "immediate" action to install such warning devices. Their goal set for installation was the end of January.

It was a much deeper quake so there was further for the energy to travel from underground which makes it far less likely to spawn tsunamis.

That's a pretty weird thing to say...it's not like this is the FIRST EARTHQUAKE in the History of Mankind.

I'm so glad that it didn't trigger another diaster! Whew. Those poor people have been through enough. Was any of the quake felt above ground?

I was just on the EQ website, and I'm moving to Cali. I noticed that so many EQ's happened (even though they were at 2.5 and such) around the area where I'm moving to last week. Is this common?

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Yes it is. It's much better to be having little 2.5 earthquakes than having no earthquakes and having all that energy getting pent up for a long period of time resulting in a major earthquake.
