It's on TNT and TBS simultaneously right now.
And I'm literally in tears. I've never see this movie look this good. I've seen it countless times on TV and in movie theatres, with all kinds of restorations and improved images.
Okay, I KNOW I'm a sap. This is my favorite film of all-time, and I feel like I could walk into the picture right now.
Sorry for the gush! But if you have an HDTV and you have TNT or TBS, turn it on now!!
You won't believe your eyes.

I just turned it on, and now I'm waiting for it to come back from commercial!
It's not "flawless," but it's better than I've ever seen it before. This is a 720p broadcast (as with all HD on TV), and there is plenty of pixelation.
But as many times as I've seen this movie, it looks the best EVER.

I set my dvr to record its airing tomorrow night, so I can watch the whole thing.
You'll notice it more in the long shots. With plenty of detail.
Like the lion's forest, where I could see every leaf on every tree.
Or the shot of the Emerald City through the poppy field. That matte painting and its optical seam into the set... was perfect.
Darn, I missed the beginning! But the rest of my evening has now been planned! And I just went to get some libations. So I am set! Thanks Best! (And I will probably watch it tomorrow also! Thanks Phyl!!)
I can see myself popping in Broadway the American Musical and watching the Wicked documentary after it is over!
Well, you have to suffer through commercials, etc. But for now, it's worth it!
I have a feeling when it comes out in 1080p on Blu-ray next year... I'll be a total mess.
Gay...
I don't mind the commercials. That's how I have always been used to watching it. Kinda makes me feel like a kid again!
Nice to see you show up on the "rude" thread, BTAwhatever.
You're right at home there. It's been calling your name since Day One.
Now go away before somebody drops a house on you.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to add a smiley face, because that makes little crap comments like yours okay, right?
When you get a real sense of humor, let me know.
My two favorite lines!
These things must be handled delll i cately! and he got away! He got away!!
"Oh, I forgot to add a smiley face, because that makes little crap comments like yours okay, right?"
Well it helps to let someone know that "little crap comments" like mine are meant in jest, but I can't stop it if you're so inclined and eager to be offended.
Does it help that if I had to go to an audition I would bring you along?
Sundays in December are going to be great! I hope they run those movies on both TCM and TBS. I don't think I have TCM.
You have no sense of humor.
That's not jest. It's abusive braying, like a donkey. It isn't funny or cute. It's annoying, insulting and snotty.
When you actually get a sense of humor, let me know. I won't hold my breath. And I won't really care, either way. You're so far off the mark, right now.
Now, go away.

Fine, I'll bring my best 16 bar cut to my audition.
I didn't know that about Dorothy's shoes in the book.
So it is only in HD on TBS? I am watching TBS. The colors are pretty vivid.
Time to pull out my obcr of the Wiz and queue up "Home"!! LOL

TNT and TBS are HD. TCM isn't - at least not on my cable.
Ugh...they could have let the music swell at the very end before hitting us with that loud Shrek promo!

uncageg, even when Im watching the dvd, when the lion jumps through the window I expect a commercial!
I know! And I can remember commercials were a run to the bathroom or getting more (homemade) popcorn!! And there was always this kinda feeling at the end when the music swelled because you knew you wouldn't get to see it again for another year! Then I would go up to my room and put my light blue dress on, grab my stuffed puppy dog and...oh...well...that's another story! :)
It is on again right now. And I am watching it again!
The Wizard of Oz is also one of my favorite movies.
God, I love Judy.
I am so excited for this to be on Blu-ray.
