"We are all very pleased to be playing in Arizona. I have read that some of the artists won't come here. They are f**kwits! Let's face it: I still play in California, and as a gay man I have no legal rights whatsoever. So what's the f**k up with these people?" - Elton John, speaking from the stage at Thursday's concert in Tucson.
Wow...that's just so...wow...I mean...wow.
The guy would sell his soul for a profit. Someone needs to tell Elton you can't take the money with you. Greedy Fuc*ers learn this lesson usually when it is too late.
That idiot played at Rush's wedding. I lost any remaining respect. Did he ever defend that?
Oh, good GAWD, no!
He really is the gay Zsa Zsa Gabor.
I forgot that he also played apartheid-era South Africa, so I guess this is no surprise.
He seems to be doing it on purpose.
There is something to be said about making a statement that way. Instead of backing away, actually showing up and making a statement there also has an impact.
What kind of statement did he make?
I don't know what else he might have said - the quoted statement is out of context. In person you can rally the people that are there for your cause.
Of late, it seems that EJ's only 'cause' is himself. He has every right to play in Arizona, or Israel, or at Limbaugh's wedding. He owes no one any explanation. However, when he opens him mouth and ignorance pours out, his remarks deserve response.
