Check out the Apple site. Everything you want to know is there. I've had an iBook and now a MacBook (and a MacBook Pro for work) and all were ordered directly from Apple. I don't see the point in going elsewhere.

Do NOT buy one from an un-official Apple retailer. They don't like to work on those machines if something goes wrong.

That said, it all depends on your needs as to what size you need, and any new Mac comes with iPhoto and iMovie.

I highly recommend these beautiful machines.

I'm also looking to buy one as a first time Mac-owner. I want the video editing software!!!

I have a Dell laptop (Inspiron 6000) which I *HATE*! It's slow as anything and doesn't work sometimes. I have had more problems with Windows machines than it's worth.

All of my friends who have Mac - they have NEVER had computer problems. NEVER.

And so, I'm getting a Mac. *BUT* I'm gonna have to wait until either free tax day or Christmas sales.

For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I wanted to get a MacBook for when I'm away from home, but I can't afford one yet. I have an iMac. If you're a college student, you can get an education discount from the Apple store. Amazon.com has good prices and have rebates.

I wanted to get the regular MacBook, not the Pro or Air. The regular is sufficient, and much cheaper than the Pro and the Air. My friend has a Macbook Air. It's nice..thin, obviously, but it doesn't seem worth the money. You'll have to buy a cd-drive.

Macs come with a free one-year warranty. Extended 3-year warranties will cost you, but I've never needed it.

and Yes they all come with iPhoto and iMovie.

I've got an ibook that I've had for the past 3 odd years. I'm completely happy with it and I don't even feel the need for an upgrade yet. It's awesome. I've never had a single issue or problem with it, and I'm a complete sadist when It comes to how I treat electronics. I've thrown it across the room, I've dropped it on the floor, I've accidentally stepped on it, etc. It's still shiny and new and works just as well as the first day I got it. I would've never been able to say the same about the dells and hps I used to have.

It's totally true, once you go mac, you never go b.....
