re: Macaroni and Cheese

Beav- To answer your first question- NO!

And to answer your second- As much as I love Karen I will not put the vodka in my MAC&CHEESE, It goes in a glass on the side.

Beav- Don't worry about it.

If anyone has tried putting vodka in the mac and cheese than please feel free to post what it was like.

re: Macaroni and Cheese

Burning the top is the key - I kid you not

That was one reason the Automat & Brooklyn Diner's M & C was & is great.

Mr. Roxy....my favorite meal at the Automat was the mac and cheese and a side of Harvard beets.

"Kraft...but not the microwave kind, gross."

That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read.

re: Macaroni and Cheese

I'm currently liking shells more than elbows, but I'll eat them both.

Rath, why is that funny? Am I just hopelessly dense?

re: Macaroni and Cheese

It's funny that mac and cheese out of a box is great, but the same stuff in a microwave version - UNACCEPTABLE. That is FUNNY, dude!!!

re: Macaroni and Cheese

I love homemade too, with the breadcrumbs on top! I am SO hungry after reading this thread. I do have Easy-Mac in my room now that I could make...but, like someone said, the microwaveable kind isn't as good.

re: Macaroni and Cheese

Homeade Mac and Cheese is God's gift to my mother's recipe box. <3s

Rath, is it REALLY the same stuff? I always thought it tasted just slightly different... connisure that I am.

re: Macaroni and Cheese

Isn't the kind from the box mixed with butter and milk? The microwaveable kind only has the cheese powder added to the pasta.

re: Macaroni and Cheese

I have Amy's frozen organic mac and cheese about once a week. It always gets a little burned around the edges. Yum!
#42

re: Macaroni and Cheese

it's true...the microwave kind is just repulsive. makes the mac all mushy

re: Macaroni and Cheese

Well it's all you guys fault...mac & cheese was on the lunch menu, so I pounced.
It wasn't very good though (nor was it from microwave/box or freezer section)

re: Macaroni and Cheese

I prefer elbow just for the fun texture. You can whistle with them.

By the way, does anyone have a good recipe for homemade mac & cheese? I hate the kind you find in most places that is mostly milky and runny. And the pasta has to be al dente (cue Al Dente), not soft and mushy.
