A breathless Voiceanth reports:
There are four beautiful and stunning set designs, which fit in with the four sections of the show entitled:
Dreams, Indulgence, The Fall and Enlightenment.
The sound engineers are using an advanced (and expensive) in-concert surround sound that was developed and made famous by the engineers who produce concerts for bands such as Pink Floyd.
So no matter where you're seated for the show, the sound will be crystal clear!

Damn you, Anthony how can anyone enjoy this concert now that you have SPOILED if for everyone?

Yea, but c'mon, Anthony. Those were not just SPOILERS but downright RUINERS!
By the way,do you think "the Fall" has to do with the season, or her career?
Actually Sueleen it's funny that you should mention that. From what I've read each sectioin does pertain to a time in her career....
Yeah--those four titles would cover the career. Although, it's ironic that the "low point" or The Fall in Madonna's career was still more than most music stars can hope for. Her "worst" albums are multiplatinum, she is never out of rotation on pop radio stations, she is constantly all over magazines and newspapers. She has yet to go through a truly bad spell.
I thought "The Fall" was going to be a tribute to her hair pieces!
Make sure you eat something before you go Voicey, cause you know what happens when you see MA, on an empty stomach, you get all "Cicconey"....
Madonna's albums of the first ten years of her career made her a superstar and that is the wave she rides. Now she could release 72 minutes of her snoring at night and it would go multiplatinum just because it's her. She'll always be remembered for her early work, not Bedroom Stories, Ray of Light, Music or American Life. That's why she always goes back to her old stuff in concerts. It's what the people really want to hear.

Her Sargeant Peppers? Essential recordings of the 90s? That's not saying much. 90s music was a black hole compared to the 80s. "Maternity album"? That just sounds ridiculous. And I think you mean the 1998 Grammys, don't you?
I'm not saying the album wasn't popular. It was Madonna and Euro-electro-dancy. Of course it was popular. And I agree that it was better than Bedtime Stories (the reviews are actually only comparing it to two of her albums), but I don't think it came close to having the impact Erotica did when it was released. Will her career be remembered for Ray of Light? I don't think so. Even the reviews you attached mention that it was her best SINCE Like a Prayer, which is one of the albums that she will really be remembered for.
P.S. - Take a Bow is a great song for insomnia. There are also positive professional reviews for hundreds of other artists. Reviews don't make a star memorable. Their work speaks for itself. Madonna's hits from the 80s have stood the test of time and are still played on the radio and in clubs. I haven't heard anything from Ray of Light except from a personal CD player in a few years, but we'll see....
I agree on Bedtime Stories and American Life, both of which are terrible. American Life was the ruinous penultiamte nail in the coffin for my love of Madonna (the final one was Me Against The Music). But Ray Of Light is a great album and Music is fabulous too. In fact, Music is better than Ray Of Light in my opinion, as the overall tone of the album is so much smoother. And in the US, you weren't subjected to the horror of American Pie after the sublime beauty of Gone.
While you have a right to your opinion, I disagree completely that Bedtime Stories or American Life are terrible. Why would you give up on her for one album and a song on Brit's album? For experimenting?
Plenty of Madonna songs from the mid/late 90s and 00s will be remembered along with her 80s/early 90s hits, and the Ray of Light album captured an entirely new audience for her. She also garnered the most awards in her career for that album, strengthening the thought that that album will be remembered.
Mister Matt: Madonna's last tour featured 1 song from before Bedtime Stories.
She's hardly coasting on her early years.
Musically, American Life is enough to kill my adoration of her stone dead. That plus Britney Spears just smacks of desperation. Had it been a few years ago, it would have been a major coup for both of them. Instead it looked like they were both clutching at straws. The appearance at the MTV Awards and her comment that "we were playing with post modern iconography" is just laughable. No you weren't, Madonna, you were calculatedly generating as many column inches as you could.
And then there's her refusal to accept her own limitations and give up on acting. Swept Away and her appearance on Will and Grace are the latest in her back catalogue of horror. And please don't use Desperately Seeking Susan and Evita as examples. In one she was playing herself, the other she was singing, not acting.
Then she makes comments about protecting her children from a showbiz life, but has Lourdes throwing petals on stage during one of her live performances. How is that protecting exactly?
I could go on and on and on about the reasons why she is now dead to me, but suffice to say while American Life and duetting with Britney finished me off, there was far more than her music that started me off.
I'm not going to defend her acting--but isn't it nice that since YOU have decided she should give up on it, then it should be the law of the land!
And, let's get something straight: Evita is NEVER just singing for any actress. Acting isn't something you do when you speak lines. Acting is something you do when you speak, walk, dance, sing, or simply remain still.
And, I'm laughing at your disgust over her kiss with Britney--like Madonna's prior controversial moments weren't meant to push buttons/generate publicity???? Why is it different now? How is it that you are sooo sure it came from desperation?

Can't we try to keep the Madonna tour info in one thread?
What I meant was that her entire career now really banks on her success in the first ten years. Like a Prayer put her over the top as a superstar. Since then, she can sing anything anywhere and sell out due to her earlier success. Her last concert was the only one that featured less of her earlier hits (2 songs, in fact - La Isla Bonita and Holiday). Of course it did well but, there were many reports at the time that fans were disappointed not to hear more of her earlier hits. And of course, she's featuring them again in this tour. She could choose not to do them at all and still sell out, but she always performs them because she knows it's what people want to hear. I think she's a very smart individual, but I don't believe something like Ray of Light would have gone over as well if she were a new artist without her previous success to back it up.
since YOU have decided she should give up on it, then it should be the law of the land!
I must have missed the part on my posts where I decreed that my word is law. I don't think she can act, and even her most fervent supporters (ie you, jrb) aren't going to challenge that opinion. And the role of Eva Peron is never just singing, except when essayed by Madonna. Even at the time when people asked me what her performance was like, I remember saying "I don't know, she didn't give one". Again, just my opinion and not the law, just so we're clear.
And her previous controversial career moves all seem to have had some kind of a point to them, as well as pushing people's buttons. The Sex book, Blond Ambition, Erotica, etc were all pushing boundaries and challenging opinions and igniting debate as well as pushing buttons. The only debate her Britney/Christina moment ignited was "Oh that Madonna, what will she think of next?" And if post modern iconography is her best reason for it, then I kind of wish she hadn't bothered. It's the fact that it was so lame that made it seem so desperate. And doing stunts like that while saying she's ashamed of the Sex book is plain ridiculous.
And doesn't anyone find it strange that this new tour is making no mention of American Life or her appearance on a Britney Spears song? It's all her greatest hits throughout her 20 odd year career. She should call it the Damage Limitation tour and be done with it.
Does she now say "I'm ashamed of the SEX book?" What a shame.
I actually like a lot of BEDTIME STORIES. My favorite cut is "Human Nature" (which is a GREAT "getting over the asshole boyfriend" song).

Thanks for the invitation, but no thanks. Not sure you've had your shots.
So, basically, one "bad" album has made you not only no longer a fan, but one who absolutely hates her? Because you really have some harsh things to say, don't you?
As for her acting: I have said before that I think her acting is there when she sings and dances. I think she is able to make the connection when music is involved. Her only performances that work when she speaks have been DSS, Who's That Girl, Dick Tracy, Snake Eyes, and much of A League of Their Own. In fact, there are many moments in the rest of her films (including the awful Next Best Thing and Swept Away) that are quite good--whenever she relaxes. I think she knows how to relax with music. I don't agree with you about Evita. I think she was snubbed for the Oscar nomination.
I don't agree that the Britney "stunt" was lame--it worked like a wild fire for both of them. Both claim they had no idea it would cause such a spark, but it did. And good. If anything, it's another pro-gay image.
I just think you are being very quick to assume to know what Madonna is thinking, while I have always looked at the various possibilities--what people think they know and what she says. I have never heard her say that she regrets the Sex book. I seriously doubt she ever did say that--but please share where she said that. I will be just fine with being proven wrong.
love you, mean it SMOOCH =)
Can you read? I have posted two lengthy messages about all the contributing factors that have eroded my love of Madonna and turned it into dislike. I don't absolutely hate her, but I am certainly no longer a fan. So I wouldn't really chalk it up to just "one bad album" especially when I have mentioned two of them.
As for the Britney stunt (and it was a stunt. I don't for a second believe Madonna had no idea the heat such a stunt would generate. She's more savvy than that), the reason it struck me as so lame was, with the release of Music, people had actually started paying attention to her music instead of her and her attendant attention seeking stunts. So many of her performances in the lead up to that album release was her singing live with two back up singers and that was it. No conical bras, no bed humping, nothing. Plain, simple and, to the surprise of a lot of people, really very good. So what was the point of the Britney and Christina liplock? I certainly don't see one, and as for pro gay image, only just. Titillation for about a million heterosexual men as well though.
And sadly I don't catalogue the exact location of every Madonna tidbit I read, unlike some passionate fans who won't stand for a bad word to be said about their icon (ie you, jrb). But she has said that she would rather forget the Sex book and she has moved on and yadda yadda. So I may have been paraphrasing when I said "ashamed" but it is the general gist.
Oh please! I can certainly say/take bad things about her--she is a ****ty actress and many of her live performances are off key. I just don't hold her mistakes against her. THAT is the difference between you and me regarding Madonna.
