I don't recall this one on B12B's list. It streets 6/05, same day as A Little Night Music and Can Can.

Wow. Three really wrongheaded screen versions of musicals all street on the same day.
True, but the camp value is immesuarable.
Tazzy's right...I still need to own it.
PJ..I thought that was understood along time ago.
A Little Night Music, while not a great film is still worth watching for Diana Rigg and Ms. Gingold. Although her song Liaisons was taking out.
I will admit to liking Mame, but only because I was in a production of it, and it has sentimental values. Though, anyone but Lucy would have been better. I do love the scenes between Bea and Lucy.
Oh yes bschnied, it's ALL about Bea!
Mame, CanCan and Night Music? All on one day? That is so much gay, I dont know if I'll be able to handle it. Imma black out.
You couldn't give me a free copy of A Little Night Music.

Fine JohnBoy, if someone offers, send them my way.
Hot ...
Oh, sorry. I thought this was one of those threads!
you're right, DBillyP--Mame IS hot!!! especially that frightening We Need A Little Christmas sequence, when Lucy puts the santa mask over her own mask? scares the bejeesus out me but i just cant look away.
God bless Jane Connell tho, and that boy that played Little Patrick...what a sweet face--how could u not love him? (and for that matter, the boy who played regular sized Patrick...YUMMY!)
"I was never in the chorus...I was NEVER in the CHORUS!!!"
doodle, that would be the best line in the film....other than my signature....oh, and when Jane Connell says "Shredded wheat" in the cross-eyed, kooky way that only cross-eyed, kooky Jane Connell can.
"Missy Dennis--accountant want to say hullo before he jump out of window."
...and let's show some love to Joyce Van Patten as Sally Cato.
"a hnnnnnt"
"i got some things that'll fit you juss per-feekt"
yes, yes...and from Gloria:
"I'm simply DRIPPING with oil!"
and more from Gloria--
"Aht mahy col-lahge..." (translation: "At my college...")
...I have no idea what the rest of the line is. I break up scream-laughing every time I hear her say that, so I never hear the rest of it.
...and for Mrs. Upson, resident of Upson Downs,
"...the wrooong kiiind of pe-ple" said with a sneer.
Wasn't the "regular size Patrick", Williard himself, Bruce Davison? Instead of Mame, I'd much prefer Bruce Davison in Last Summer. Where the hell is that film?
i dont know the film you're speaking of, but i did notice that "regular sized Patrick" did not age very well when I discovered him in the 1996 version of The Crucible. i much preferred him young & lanky & in his cute little sweater-vest combos.
Which one don't you know, Williard or Last Summer? Last Summer, is a tremendous coming-of-age flick with Davison, Richard Thomas and Barbara Hershey, and Catherine Burns, who got an Oscar nomination for her role. I was their age, at the time, so it was a film with characters with which I could identify. Williard was a big summer movie hit in 1971, about a boy and his rats!

i dont know either film, but judging by that pic, i might have to check out Last Summer, if it features a scantilly-clad Regular-Sized Patrick.
And he was in the Aids drama "Longtime Companion."
Though, Aids didn't kill him.
Appearing in "Mame" did.
awwwwwwwww, but he was precious!!
and whatever happened to Little Patrick? he was so much cuter than the LP in the Roz version.
a few more Mame quotes for your enjoyment...
"Will it mix with Dr. Pepper?" "He'll love it"
"Thank GOD I never put anything aside! *dramatic gasp"
"And where is Mr. Gooch, my dear?" "Oh, my father passed on."
"Vera just loves little boys, dont you Vera?" ".............yes."
"ILL FATED!!!!!!!!!!"
Speaking of Mame, have you all seen the clip on youtube with Angela Lansbury singing "Thoroughly Modern Millie", at the Academy Awards? It's around the same time she did Mame, and even though the clip is pretty crappy quality, it gives you a very good idea of just how incredible she was in the show. The memory of which I will always cherish.
