Well that's fantastic. Hopefully, the media will acknowledge both record breakers and that a film, especially a "chick flick" and a mudical at that, did so well against a juggernaut.
May this greenlight more and more musicals.

The openning weekend for HAIRSPRAY was $27,476,745.
The estimated total for MAMMA MIA is $27,605,000. Actual figures won't be out until tomorrow.
