Man arrested for being naked - UPDATED WITH VIDEO!

Springfield, Virginia resident Eric Williamson was arrested and charged with indecent exposure yesterday for failing to put on any clothes after getting up at 5:30 am to make some coffee. A woman and her 7-year-old daughter had cut across Williamson's front yard and saw him through his kitchen window.

If convicted, Williamson could be fined $2,000 and spend a year in jail.

Fairfax police say Williamson wanted to be seen naked. Which I guess means Williamson's front yard is a pretty popular spot at 5:30 in the morning.

WTF? The people who saw him CUT across HIS lawn? You mean HIS property? 'Indecent exposure' my ass. I had better keep a look out at 6:30 AM from now on.

I'd have the mother arrested for involving a child in trespassing. And make a case for the possibility of indecent exposure with incestuous intent for any time the child may have walked in while the mother or father were naked in their own bedroom.

The woman and police tell a different story. First of all, it wasn't her daughter, but her 7 year-old son. It wasn't 5:30 but 8:40. Also, he wasn't only in his kitchen (with windows without curtains), he was also standing outside, in the doorway or his carport(where they first spotted him). The police also report that this isn't the first complaint about the guy. At this point, it's they guy's word against the lady's.

She didn't say he was standing outside, but in the doorway of his car port. So while she was illegally trespassing on his property and passed a side door inside a car port, she saw him standing naked in his house. Even if it is 8:40 in the morning, if she and her son saw something they didn't want to, the fault still lies with them.

So you can just report stuff like this to the police and get your neighbors arrested? Without any proof? Hmmm, that gives me ideas.

Unfortunately the law doesn't protect people in their own home if the curtains are open. Several years ago, a couple was having sex in their house and a neighbor video taped it and then had the couple arrested.

Couldn't they have the neighbor arrested for voyeurism? I can understand if they're having sex on the main floor in the front of the house facing a busy street, but what if a couple is having sex in their bedroom facing a fenced backyard and some kid hops over the fence to get his baseball? I'm all for protecting the children and society and all, but there have to be some limits as to what counts as "public indecency" when you're inside your own home.

I'm all for protecting the children and society and all, but there have to be some limits as to what counts as "public indecency" when you're inside your own home.

Except the law doesn't work that way. If you live in an area when it is probable that children will jumped a fence to get a baseball, you need to make sure you have curtains which are closed on your windows, if you're going to be nude in front of them.

Right. I would think that is pretty hard to prove, unless they find others who can testify to his pattern for being on display.
