I've never taken Ambien nor known anyone who has, but this reminds me of Nortriptyline. My ex took it for panic disorders when we were together and it was bizarre. I would come to bed after he was asleep and he would get up and chat with me. We would have entire conversations with his eyes open and everything. He'd even get up and walk around in a sort of sleepy or tired manner. Then he would suddenly start talking nonsense and gibberish and giggling wildly. It would only be then that I'd realize he was actually asleep the whole time and I'd physically have to take him back to the bed and shake him awake. He'd have no memory of it whatsoever.

I seem to recall an episode of House that dealt with something similar. I don't remember if there was medical involved but a woman had come to the clinic feeling tired and achey. House tells her that she'd had a miscarriage and she said she couldn't be pregnant because she hadn't had sex in a year. Turns out that she was sleepwalking to her ex-husband's apartment (which was in the same building as her's).

Ambien can really screw me over, I can only take half an ambien now because taking a whole one makes me a bit craazy and it definitely makes you forget stuff. Now I don't know if it's an excuse for cheating on someone though.

I was addicted to Ambien for a while a few years ago, just after eBay became popular. I would go on eBay late at night and bid on Ethel Merman memorabilia and not remember the next morning how much I had bid or if I had won. Apparently, the Ambien would make me a very aggressive bidder.

I still have several pieces I shouldn't have bought.

I never take sleeping pills anymore.

I can't believe these stories about Ambien. I was prescribed that not too long ago for sleep. It did nothing. I even took three at one time and still couldn't sleep.

PJ, I did the SAME thing, only there was no Merman involved. I bought like 6 shirts one night. Stuff just kept arriving that I had no memory of buying.

Lots of people have had Ambien sex. It makes people do things that they normally wouldn't agree to, ifyouknowwhatimsayin... Kristin Chenoweth admits to being an Ambien eater. She said she woke up one morning with three Butterfinger wrappers stuck to her ass.

Okay, since we're confessing stuff . . .

The last time I took Ambien, I woke up in bed, fully dressed, though NOT in the clothes I had worn the day before, and a plaster bust of a sort of Marie Antoinette figure that I'd bought off the street when I first moved to NYC (I'll pause for your punch lines) was lying on the floor kiiiiiinda near the bed, busted to powder.

I once had been drinking w/my boyfriend, then had half an ambien. He went to bed when it kicked in, I told him I wasn't tired and I'd stay watching TV in the living room... next thing I know he's waking me up, it's 9am, and I'm half-naked passed out on the couch.
Another time, I took a whole one (about an hour after having a couple cocktails at the bar), and I got the sudden urge to make popcorn from scratch. I ended up burning the oil, there was smoke all over the house, and my boyfriend had to carry me to bed since I refused to stop making popcorn.
I have a lot of trouble sleeping though so as long as I just take a half and don't drink beforehand, I love my ambien.
