LOVE this movie! Those Bogeymen used to scare the daylights out of me!
Interesting bit of trivia: the actor who played Barnaby was actually a young man at the time of filming.

Posted: 12/26/07 at 9:46amI missed it, was it in the original glorious black & white, or is it the hideous, highly offensive "colorized" version?

Posted: 12/26/07 at 11:04amIt was the highly offensive colorized version. I never see the lovely black and white version shown anymore.

Heh that monkey/ mouse hybrid they had in that movie always freaked me out! By far one of the films that spark bright memories from my youth!
I saw the colorized version recently and was duly appalled! Why, oh why?

I bought the video a few years ago, and i think it's in Black & White. I haven't watched it in awhile.
Goodness knows why they show the colorized version. They do the same for Miracle on 34th Street. Some people just don't know enough to not mess with perfection.

Okay, this is obviously Public Domain material, because there are several DVD releases out there. I'd love to get a copy of this, but out of the handful of DVDs released... which is the best?
Does anyone own a copy of it that looks pretty good... or even (God, forbid) RESTORED???
...or do they all look kinda crappy?

After this thread last week, I went and ordered this one. It arrived yesterday. I only had a chance to watch the first 40 minutes. It looks pretty good to me, so far. Hope to get a chance to watch the rest tonight.
