Marco Rubio condemns Beyonce's Cuba trip.

This will be interesting.

“According to recent news reports, Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Cuba trip, which the regime seized on for propaganda purposes, was fully licensed by the Treasury Department,” Rubio said in a public statement on Monday. “If true, the Obama administration should explain exactly how trips like these comply with U.S. law and regulations governing travel to Cuba and it should disclose how many more of these trips they have licensed.”

I see your point. But as it stands it is still illegal. But I also doubt Obama had anything to do with it.

You just said it. They go thru a humanitarian aid relief organization. Most people that still have family in Cuba visit them by traveling thru Canada. It is still illegal.

Rubio is a clown (one of the least impressive politicians I have ever seen up close and I have a bipartisan eye, his Republican colleagues Senator Corker and former Senator Lugar are one of the most impressive) and always has been a clown. He is placating to his base in Florida. Nobody except the last remaining steadfast anti-Castro Cuban-Americans and their children who lobby to keep the embargo intact care about the stupid embargo. We have open relations with Vietnam and China. To keep this Cold War concept alive is embarrassing.

Americans can not visit Cuba through commercial channels directly from America IIRC but they can make direct chips from Montreal or Mexico City without any trouble.

This is not even close to say Vice Magazine and Dennis Rodman recently visiting North Korea recently.

So now the question is why did she get clearance? The right is quick to point at Obama. But I seriously doubt he had anything to do with it.

They met with the Cuban people and local musicians. I do not really find who they met Earth-shattering and that it was non-political meant that is why they got clearance.

Maybe they're in talks to headline a concert or something, or maybe they were there to adopt a small cuban child that Beyonce can pass off as her own. Who knows? It's none of our business.

Kad. I am sure you are right. And The Republicans are running with it.

They're grasping at straws. Beyonce is more popular than any of them and Obama had nothing to do with it. It makes them like desparate to distract from how terrible things are in Congress.

I guess the issue is more that Beyonce is a big celebrity and the Cuban government is using her visit for a lot of photo ops. I can see how people that suffered under that regime would have a huge problem with it. I guess it all depends on how you look at it.
