Have to admit, I'm already riveted to this case. So many issues are brought together: money, white male entitlement, prostitution and shame, gambling, misogeny. Eventually, denial, too. The last sentence of the Times article brought out the pitiful irony: his victim's body was taken to the same hospital where he was to train to save lives. "First do no harm."
Is he an amoral psychopath? Would he have killed again, had he not been caught? It's possible that he might not, but probable that having done it once, he might've been driven to repeat. All speculation, but what's worth noting is his cavalier indifference to covering his tracks. He was almost begging to be caught, yet clearly was self deluded into thinking it impossible.
This is a case to follow -- including the poor fiancee's handling of this left-field crisis. Did I say "poor?" I noticed that she's emailing everyone saying it's a set-up for the police to sell their story. After the gun and handcuffing materials were found in his apt, and his puss is all over the surveillance footage ("Honey, why were you in those hotels on the nights those women were attacked? Oh, you had business. No more questions, let's go to Foxwoods!") Stay tuned.
