I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and remember what a landmark Fields was, the place you went for a special present or holiday shopping spree. I think I still have one of their gift boxes somewhere. I'm really sorry to hear this.

There is a mention on the local news that some form of the Marshall Field's name might be saved on State Street.

Funny you mention that brdlwyr.

I was out on Friday in the Midwilshire district, and noticed that the Bullocks Wilshire name is still on the building now occupied by the Southwestern School of Law.

I hope they do the same for MF.

Sounds like a pandering ploy - it will actually be Macy's - all the Macy's in-store brands, no more "Field Gear" for Men, etc., but on the outside of the building it will still say "Marshall Fields."

Hell, Sears moved their corporate headquarters to the suburbs and sold their skyscraper, but they still call it the Sears Tower!
