Don't you love Mary Stuart Masterson's transformation from film tomboy to simply beautiful woman in NINE?
I loved her Luisa Contini.
Fragile but strong as steel.
Her legs - gorgeous!
What beautiful skin!

Saw her only last night as a little girl playing opposite her real life dad Pete Masterson in the original (and best) THE STEPFORD WIVES.
And her mum's legs weren't bad either!

Posted: 4/3/05 at 12:55pmI adored her as Luisa Contini. Everybody made such a big fuss over Jane Krakowski, who was very good, but MSM should've won the Tony. A raw, vulnerable performance that simply blew me away. In my humble opinion, the best Luisa ever.

Oy, I've been a fan of hers since SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL. That was in what, 1986?
I adored her in NINE. Her songs were the best in the show. I was amazed she had such a glorious singing voice. I've heard talk of them doing a film of NINE and I would hope she gets to do it.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 2:27pmI completely agree. She is so small and fragile looking in person.

OMG! Matt_G!!!! NINE, The Movie!
That is the best news I've heard in ages!
MSM is a tomboy who has become a sensuous woman.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 5:16pmI've loved her ever since Fried Green Tomatoes - such a fine young actress.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 6:33pmDitto the Fried Green Tomatoes...her and Mary-Louise Parker were such revelations in that movie. I love it.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 6:38pmShe totally broke my heart in NINE - she commanded that stage. I was so angry when she didn't win the Tony.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 8:31pmwith her mom such a belter, i guess she comes by it naturally, but i was unprepared for what a rich and supple sound her voice had. She continues to amaze on the screen...loved her "arc" on LAW & ORDER:SVU. Wasn't she also in the Kennedy Center Williams plays this past summer? i know she's been doing at least one West End play. But she needs to do another musical in NYC!

Posted: 4/3/05 at 11:24pmI agree with Fried Green Tomatoes as my favorite MSM film. She did do a play at the Kennedy Center this summer. She played Maggie in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. I really wanted to see it, but I never got the chance.

Posted: 4/4/05 at 12:07amI saw her in "Some Kind Of Wonderful" and had a huge crush on her, and then I saw "Nine" and sat in the front row and I thought her face looked familiar and her name sounded familiar and I realized it was her! Mary Stuart Masterson is my definition of gorgeous.

For sure.
I think the revival of NINE is the reason I rarely go to movies these days but the movie NINE would bring me back in.
