The Will and Grace discussion brought to mind this question: With all the shows that are in syndication or have been in the past few years, why isn't Maude?

I've been wondering the same thing. When joey first got our membership to the Museum of Radio and Television - we went there one saturday afternoon and watched two episodes - the back-to-back episodes about Maude's pregnancy and abortion - it was a very touchy subject at the time and the show's were really well written - I miss Maude!

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Lifetime should show it - it's the perfect channel for it. They can do Golden Girls and Maude back to back if they want.

I recall that Maude was only moderately successful (unlike All in the Family.) And a little Bea Arthur goes a long way. Even as a kid I could only handle Maude's abrasiveness every few weeks. Both shows were so political and therefore feel quite dated. Certain shows from the '50s and '60s feel timeless.

I believe MAUDE was on TVLAND until not too long ago. It is being considered for a 2005 DVD release as well, which might have something to do with it.

I wish they'd release them all on DVD...I don't think Bea Arthur or Maude are the least bit abrasive - fantastic comic timing - wonderful little plots, and even though they are dated - they're funny.

You don't think Maude was abrasive? That was the WHOLE POINT of the show! Where most of the comedy derived. RedHot, you must be in a sugar coma after eating Joeys wonderful desserts.

Middy's right. She was of course abrasive. Still love her.

That old compromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizing, Right on Maude.

Love her! Let's start a campaign to bring back the show!

Bring BACK the show? You mean new episodes?? I don't know how well that would do. MAUDE was very edgy for it's time and that's one of the reasons it worked. What topics could be edgy for a 75 year old Maude? Prescription meds from Canada?

Matt, you're a genius. That's definitely the pilot episode for Maude: The Senior Moments.

I loved "Maude". I remember when I was a kid, my mom would only let me stay up till 9pm. I remember walking up the stairs and hearing the "Maude" theme song starting up and being totally miserable I was missing the show.

Bea Arthur was superb in it. Do you remember the "All in the Family" episodes where Maude was introduced as Edith's cousin? Hilarious!!

No. The original. I don't think a geriatric Maude would work. Although...

TVLand did show a few episodes recently. Why not do what all the other tv sitcoms are doing: Maude The Movie.

Maude the Movie doesn't need a plot. Did either of the Brady Bunch movies have a plot? Did the Flintstone movies have a plot? Will the new Bewitched movie have a plot? Who needs a plot?

To be faithful to the show's tone, it should be a topic that makes us wince. I still have nightmares remembering Maude's abortion and menopause episodes. How about Maude decides to vote Republican?

It's the mid-1970's, and Maude's maid Florida has just quit. Her reason: she wants to seek out some Good Times. Maude begins interviewing for a new maid. The first candidate is Juan, a gay refugee who escaped from Cuba. Incensed that this person has been treated so poorly, Maude hires him. She then becomes a strong activist for immigrant and gay rights.

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider
She didnt' care if the whole world looked.
Joan of Arc with the Lord to guide her
She was a sister who really cooked.

Isadora was the first bra burner
And you're glad she showed up. (Oh yeah)
And when the country was falling apart
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up.

And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's Maude.
And then there's

I don't think that would be very believable. And this is a sitcom after all - that's very important. re: Maude

How about Maude has fertility treatments and gives birth to triplets?

Rath, OMG, you are hilarious! Yes, Maude has triplets. And they do some form of advanced genetic testing and she and Walter find out one child will grow up to be a Republican.
