The thing that I think is funny is that he obviously doesn't have any better offers. He's got nowhere to go.

He knows he has nothing that will make him look good in the future and so he has to grasp for another four years until he can figure out how to distinguish himself. Otherwise he ends up like Ed Koch grabbing every chance to put himself back in the spotlight.

I was trying to figure out why, with the city facing deficits prior to the Wall St meltdown he was still giving nice raises to city workers. Apparently the taxpayer, already the highest taxed in the land, will be asked for more of their money.

Meanwhile, the unions will continue on like nothing has happened. Now I see why he was doing it so he could line up points for his 3 rd term run.Too bad the pain will not be spread around & Joe taxpayer will get it again you know where. Some things never change.

I am voting this year & next year I will vote for almost anyone other than Bloomy. OK start hurling the brickbats @ me.

Bloomberg is a scumbag. Plain and simple. His callous disregard for the voters is nothing new. This is the man who told us all to buy bikes when the transit strike was looming. Can anyone be surprised at this power grab?

Bloomberg is a DOUCHE. He's a terrific mayor for those who have incomes in the 7 or 8 figure range. This is the man who brought the Republican National Convention to NYC, costing many millions of dollars that the city could ill-afford to lose.

Let him die penniless and alone.

Bloomburg is a loathesome man. He got the votes he needed by making vast and hidden donations to select council members. This is the way he operates.

As someone who saw what he did to the NYC Dept of Education, I know how he works. At school, we could always tell which administrator had beome "A Buddy of Bloomie" becaue he or she would suddenly be driving either a BMW or a Lexus or some other luxury vehicle. Then there was the Stepford-like change in that administrator: the person who was once friendly and helpful becaue arrogant and aloof. They also started spying on others and writing up teachers for insignificant details. I cherish the letter I recieved reprimanding me for writing on the blackboard in script. The letter stated that I was "setting [my] students up for failure. Well, not only do I have perfect Palmer script, which is extremely legible, but the work was on the board for a class of 12th graders who should be able to read cursive penmanship!

There's also Bloomberg's dictum that Snapple drinks are the only ones to be sold in city buildings and that only Kaplan review books are to be used when reviewing for the State Regents exams. No reasons were given why. Kaplan and Snapple are two businesses run by Jewish people. I have the deepest resepct for the Jews and I may very well have Jewish blood in me, but isn't something suspicious taking place here?

There are also "teacher reassignment centers" all over the city populated by teachers who have been removed from the classroom for inane reasons. There's one teacher there who isn't allowed in her school because she "doesn't know how to apply make-up properly" and a gay social studies teacher who is there because he allegedly "touched a female student inappropriately". They've all been put there by "Buddies of Bloomie" who have replaced the reassigned teachers with people who can hardly speak English or write simple sentences--but who work cheap!

I'm glad I'm out of there!

When it comes time for Bloomberg to "shuffle off this mortal coil" may he do so in agony.

Dislike Bloomberg intensely. Like Roscoe, I'll never forgive him for bringing the GOP here for their week-long 9-11 photo op. I was pleased to subsequently read that Christo's 'Gates' brought in far more money to NYC than the GOP convention did.
And I'm not even a fan of Christo.

The City Council should have insisted it go to a public vote. I have no doubt Dollypop is correct about the under the table payoffs. And for all his vaunted 'independence', Bloomberg was known to have secretly funded scumbags like Joe Bruno.

What is interesting to me is that Bloomberg seems to have abandoned his rumored run for governor.

I do wish he'd come clean about those Carribean boys...

"The City Council should have insisted it go to a public vote."

It has already been voted on twice in the past and both times citizens said no to more than two terms. Bloomberg, with the help of the City Council, is trying to overturn the will of the public.

I detest Bloomberg. I think term limits are there for a good reason and think bullying his way to another term is deplorable.

He is a scumbag.

I'm not thrilled with Christine Quinn either right now.

I'm not necessarily a supporter of term limits as such, but for Bloomberg to have bullied this through the City Council without going to the voters is pure evil, exactly the kind of thing that no one should be surprised he has done.

The man has no soul whatsoever. He left the Dems to go Republican when he realized he'd have a better shot at being mayor that way. His recent alleged departure from the Republican Party isn't terribly convincing, especially when he pulls Bush-league crap like this.

I really don't know how I feel about all this.. Probably more against it but I dunno. I am a huge fan of his work thus far. If we keep him we will certainly have gay marriages here, a greener city and just a more progressive place to live.

I am still very upset about the Subway strike, and the school system.

I'm more scared that Giuliani would try to worm his way back, but apparently, he's already kicked off his campaign to run for president on 2012.

I wonder if this woman is an example of the palm greasing Dollypop is talking about. Councilwoman Mealy was against it before she was for it.

"However, earlier this year, Ms. Mealy acknowledged that she had sought to have the Council allocate about $25,000 for a nonprofit group operated by her sister. However, the Council never made the funds available."

Let us not forget that on September 10, 2001, Rudy Giuliani was a lame duck mayor who was steeped in scandal, and generally despised by most New Yorkers. They couln't wait for himto leave office. A day later, he was Superman.

Maybe Bloomberg is just holding out for the disaster that will allow him to emerge as a hero.

Is she Jewish? I can't tell by the name. It could be one of those heavily-drinking lazy Irish type of names.

Poor Sarah Palin...she was handled by the Dems with kid-gloves this time but 4 years out neither Bobby Jindal, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Rick Perry, Jeb Bush, Romney, Guiliani nor House Minority Leader John Boehner will show any mercy in the primaries.

Keep your eyes on the TX gubernatorial race in 2010. Either Rich Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchinson will pluck straws beforehand or they'll bludgeon each other to for the right to lead the Lone Star State. Palin will be lucky to survive the first cut.

There's some chatter in GOP circles of propping up another Bush for the White House in 2012. Except the next time, it would be the one with a brain.

The one with a brain? Billy Bush? Ha.

Hutchison likely will be the next governor of Texas, though I don't really understand why she would want it. It's a weak position, certainly weaker than senator. Perry, despite a slight boost in popularity for his handling of Hurricane Ike, isn't really popular with either party. Plus, he's already been there for 10 years and won only with a plurality of the votes last time in a weird four-way race.

I'm still hoping Kinky Friedman becomes a Democrat and gives them a real race. re: Mayor Bloomberg Rapes NYC Voters
