The Washington Post provided this quote from Obama talking to congressional Dems:
“I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.”
Sounds pretty arrogant, no? Well, what the WP does NOT provide is the entire quote:
"It has become increasingly clear in my travel, the campaign, that the crowds, the enthusiasm, 200,000 people in Berlin, is not about me at all. It’s about America. I have just become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.”
Decidedly less arrogant. I ask AGAIN: where is this alleged media bias in favor of Obama?
Obama gets more coverage, but it is far more critical.
McCain should have been destroyed by the media for all of the gaffes, flip-flops, distortions and lies about Obama, but they have been very slow to react. (Blame it on the donuts).
The tide may be turning a bit though. Andrea Mitchell finally called McCain out about his false add regarding troop visits.
I have a feeling the tide may turn in coverage.
nope. still arrogant. but that's bammy. he knows he's the greatest human being to walk the earth. ever.
the only way it's gonna turn is against bammy, ywiw. his arrogance is rubbing off on his campaign and that will burn them in the end. ask ryan lizza how likely it is that the media will turn.
They're both risking backlash from the media. Do you think the media is pleased about being used by McCain's allegedly imminent VP pick?
sending nasty notes to adam "the hobbit" nagourney is no way to endear yourself to the press. but then, when you feel you've already won and the whole election thing is just a formality, you don't really need to be nice to anyone.
the bammy arrogance watch
I don't know, Papa. Can anyone be any more arrogant than McCain was when he rejected Iraq's request for a timetable for troop withdrawal, saying "I know what they want"?
good luck selling that one. let me know how it works out.

Out of context McCain quotes:
"I was guilty of war crimes against the Vietnamese people. I intentionally bombed women and children."

Arrogance, or murder? You choose.

"Decidedly less arrogant."
Did you read the Berlin speech? It's pure historical fiction.
Papa, I agree about the perception of arrogance, but it may also be something else - i.e., a true belief in Obama.
As you know, he is not my first choice, but to me a better choice than the other options.
I think there will be some backlash - and at some point, an assessment will be done of the coverage.
McCain is been given a free pass so far. I honestly don't think it will continue in perpetuity.
"I never truly loved my country until I was deprived of her company"
Does this mean McCain didn't love America for the first thirtysomething years of his life??? Why did he hate America? Can we REALLY be sure he doesn't still hate America? I think Sean Hannity should look into this.

Not exactly the sign of a healthy relationship, is it?
like i said, guys, have at it. i would particularly highlight anything that has anything to do with mccain's pow time. because that's really gonna be a winning issue for your boy.
the arrogance meme is coming from places like tnr, the boston globe and the ny times. i realize that they are second only to rush in their standing among the vrwc, but bammy might want to think about trying some fence mending.
i hope he doesn't. i hope he continues down this path. i'll enjoy watching him become the most spiteful politician since jimmy carter after america rejects him.
Actually, there has been some negative press today with respect to McCain's recent, patently false ads. Too soon to tell if this just a blip in the media's love affair with McCain or if they will continue to pay attention.
then affair's not over:

but mccain's campaign is staffed by morons:

Isn't the act of running for President rather arrogant to begin with? Personally, I'd rather have an arrogant leader with fresh, progressive ideas than an old leader with blank eyes, constantly looking for someone to give him direction. Sorry, pops, but for all the Obama bashing, nothing in the world is going to make me vote for old Weathervane McCain.
i'd lose all respect for ya if ya did.
