...aka, the last act of a seriously desperate campaign.

No, wait. Not true!

In another week they'll be call him the Antichrist.

But in the meantime, he's a socialist!

Then he'll be Lenin... Then Stalin...

Then Damian, Omen V.

Can somebody please throw a net over these nutcases?

It is a shame that if one disagrees with Obama they are called a nutcase. Not exactly the way to build bridges with the opposition.

I do not agree with most of Obamas positions but I do not call people who support him nutcases. He will win due to a bad economy, a bad GOP candidate & an even worse campaign run by Mc Cain. Palin backfired big time.

In a different economy with a different candidate I think the result would be totally different. Obama will win & I wish him luck. Hopefully, if & when his policies fail, he will not blame GWB & will accept that his policies were wrong. Somehow, I do not see him accepting responsibility.

I swear all you have to do is add "ist" to the end of any word, point your finger at the opponent and the whole right-wing nutcase (yeah I said it) base goes ballistic.

Talk about sheep.

Good one McCain. Can't win by reason or policy argument, so why not try to stir up mass-hysteria, clearly there is nothing to lose, neither integrity nor principle. Start a new witch hunt with Obama the new manifestation of EVIL. Terrorist. Socialist. WIN the nutcase vote!

I guess you can count me among the Obamaists, even though I disagree with some of his policies. Better than being a Palinist.

I honestly once thought McCain was a more level-headed, moderate Republican and that if America was to have a Republican president, he'd be better than many. It's not the first time I've misjudged a man. Men can be pretty easy to misjudge, after all. That's not my fault.

BTW Did the FBI ever do an investigation of the man who screamed "Kill him!" (referring to Obama) at the Palin rally? Was his background ever checked? Was he ever evaluated by a psychiatric team?

With the recent actions of our government with respect to the financial crisis, I think we need the writers of Avenue Q to rework their song into Everyone's A Little Bit Socialist.

His policies are socialist, but I thought that's what everyone wanted? Why is it so nuts? Are we now to come up with a new word, just because you can't say anything that is status quo about Obama? That's exactly what he is proposing. Why are they just hinting at it?! And why are you denying it? What's wrong with it? Isn't that why you're voting for him? Socialism is what the bail-out is, as well.

Artscallion - you made my point. The defense rests.

It must be nice to feel you are always right & everyone who does not agree with you is a nutcase. Sad, very sad. I pity people such as yourself with a closed mind.

Have a nice day.

Roxy is of course recalling the last 16 years of Republican cotton candy clouds and gumdrop rivers filled with smiling faces and respectful disagreements.

The man is, truly, a nutcase.

Yeah, those horrible, evil socialists with their public schools, libraries, police and firemen, social security...REAL Republicans would reject such anti-American institutions.

I'll accept the idea that Obama is a socialist, if you accept the idea that McCain is a dictator.

Obama's platform calls for socializing some aspects of commerce and government to rein them in, because they're so out of control now they are killing our economy and our future welfare. That's a fact (just look out the window).

But to call him a "socialist" is extreme.

It's exactly like saying the Republican platform with McCain at the helm is calling for the rich to get richer so they can control all the poor and middle class citizens and take over this country with absolute power... like a dictator.

So if we want to talk in extremes: Obama is a radical socialist and McCain is a fascist dictator.

Better?

So what's so wrong with being a Democratic Socialist? Just another example of the Republicans trying to instill fear in the populous about something they don't fully understand.

"Socialist", like "liberal", has no meaning when used in this way--it's just a convenient term meant to summon up vague notions of unspeakable doom. It's exactly the same as if they'd called Obama the bogeyman.

socialism: Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

michelle obama, nc campaign stop: most americans don't want...folks don't want the whole pie. most feel blessed to thrive a little bit...soomeone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so someone else can have more.

barack obama: It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too...My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody.

can't' imagine where they got that socialist idea from.

If John McCain wants to talk socialism he should talk about the major events that have taken place on Wall Street in the last few months/years. John McCain himself is saying "Drill Baby Drill" on GOVERNMENT LAND which = SOCIALISM. Just ask Sarah Palin about that.

For years people like Papa have defended policies that in the end are socialism. George Bush is no better than Hugo Chavez (worse in my opinion).

"He will win due to a bad economy, a bad GOP candidate & an even worse campaign run by Mc Cain. Palin backfired big time."

People will certainly ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS vote their pocketbooks, but don't dismiss Obama's viability or qualifications as a candidate. He did very well in the primary and beat Hillary Clinton. He also has raised staggering amounts of money from people just like you and me and we are in a really horrible economic time. He is motivating voters and taking back Bush states.
