TCM is celebrating Mel Brooks' Lifetime Achievement Award from AFI tonight with a variety of programming.
I want to put a word in for 'The 12 Chairs'--which is showing at 9:30 EST--a Brooks film from 1970 that consistently evokes blank stares of non-recognition when I mention it--even from folks typically more savvy about film history than I.
It is not madcap, but it IS very funny (I think), and it features wonderful performances by Dom DeLouise and (a young and very beautiful) Frank Langella.
