Mel Brooks on TCM

TCM is celebrating Mel Brooks' Lifetime Achievement Award from AFI tonight with a variety of programming.

I want to put a word in for 'The 12 Chairs'--which is showing at 9:30 EST--a Brooks film from 1970 that consistently evokes blank stares of non-recognition when I mention it--even from folks typically more savvy about film history than I.

It is not madcap, but it IS very funny (I think), and it features wonderful performances by Dom DeLouise and (a young and very beautiful) Frank Langella.

I LOVE The Twelve Chairs. I remember my dad making me watch it. Wonderful. Thanks for the heads up!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I LOVE the Twelve Chairs! For some reason, they showed it to us in high school- I have no idea why. Was it some teacher's idea it would educate us on the Russian Revolution?
