Seasons one and two are being released on September 5th. For those who remember - the show also starred James Broderick (matthew's father) and Sada Thompson. It also introduced us to Willie Ames as Kristy McNichol's boyfriend TJ.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 4:24pmI loved this show! Very happy to finally be able to see it, again. Meredith dropped the Birney. She also married, and has since divorced, Lance Rock, from BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, Michael Blodgett.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 4:31pmI seem to recall seeing an announcement that the DVD of Bridget loves Bernie starring Meredith and David Birney is also being released in the next couple of months - but can't seem to recall where.

I LOVED "Family" as a kid. What a great show! And I loved it's "sappy '70s" theme tune, written by John Rubinstein (who was also on the show).
...And Quinn Cummings didn't join the cast until later seasons... after her Oscar nomination.
...And "Bridget Loves Bernie" on DVD too? I used to love that show as well, with the late, talented Bibi Osterwald (of "Hello, Dolly!" fame) as Bernie's mum. God bless Bibi.

Posted: 6/28/06 at 7:03pmWow... memories. I remember as a kid I couldn't tell for the longest time if Kristy's McNichols character was a boy or a girl.

Great Cast.
The show has dated badly, though. It is pretty much about an upper-middle class family and their WASPy problems.
Mike Nichols and Jay Presson Allen created the show. And I think Aaron Spelling was its producer.
Quinn Cummings was in the final season of the show when it officially jumped the shark. :)

Posted: 6/28/06 at 9:28pmIf it's dated, it will be all the more appealing to me. Can't wait to see it again! I'm currently enjoying RAT PATROL - in color!

I hope you do. Some of it is soap opera-ish.
Sada Thompson is wonderful.
I wonder if Matthew Broderick appears in any episodes?

Posted: 6/28/06 at 9:53pmEvery episode is a master class in acting, thanks to Thompson and Broderick.

I was thinking about this show just a week or two ago and wondering if it would ever show up on one of "those" channels. This is even better.
Didn't the family adopt Quinn Cummings?
