Well, I made it through the first batch still standing.
ooo..why haven't I gotten to know José before now? :)
José my dear...
If you were a Tim Burton cinematic character, which one would you be?
Need a drink, yet? Or has that been helping you get through this?!
I think beacs is going to freak if you don't answer her questions!

If you were an automobile, what automobile would you be and why?
If you could have anyone over for dinner (more casual than an interview), who would it be and what would you serve them?
I would be a BMW Z Roadster so that I could get into any nook and cranny, and so that I could travel with the wind blowing through my hair and the cd blasting my favorite tunes.
If I could through a small dinner party and invite anyone of my choosing....I'd invite Vanessa Redgrave, Jeanne Moreau and Ralph Finnes, and Charles would be there too. Here's the menu:
Seafood soup with a Stone Crab Claw (just a cup)
Porcini Ravioli drizzled with truffle oil (3 ravioli)
Rack of lamb with pommes dauphinois and haricots vert
Arugula with thinly sliced onions and shaved Parmesan, all drizzled with virgin olive oil
Creme Bruleé (I used to make these at Le Cirque, but that's another story)
Coffee and/or Tea
Cigars and Port

What superhero did you imitate as a child?
And who is your favorite Dickens character?
Well, I settled for Superman after my mother nearly had a stroke when she discovered my sister and I posed on the ledge of our second story porch, and that I had tied a towel around my sister's shoulders, and I had convinced my sister that she and I could jump off and fly just like Peter Pan and Wendy.

Mamie:
We are each the architects of our own heaven. What's yours going to be like when you get there?
Well, I like to think I'd find my cabin in the sky, but I honestly suspect I'll be shoveling coal somewhere. If I did make it to heaven mine would be filled with family and friends who predeceased me. However I am never at peace without Charles, so even heaven would be hell without him.
Jose - I just wanted to pop in to congratulate you - our Quizmaster - on your special day of recognition. I hope that you've had a terrific day!

If you were a Tim Burton cinematic character, which one would you be?
Easy. Edward Scissorhands so that I could cut my own hair. I really dislike going to the barbershop and listening to all the nonsense conversastion. Even worse is a barber who wants to talk to you while he cuts my hair when all I want to do is sleep. Being Edward Scissorhands would completely eliminate the need for me to go the barber and I would love it!

4. If you could go back for one day to any moment in time, where would you go and what would you do when you got there?
5. How did you happen to come to BWW and what made you stay? (I hope the 'retirement' talk is just that - talk!)
[Mamie, I somehow overlooked these. Ooops!]
4. Any moment in time...well I'd go back to Paris, my first visit in October 1976, and I wouldn't do anything differently.
5. I happened upon this website the first week or so of its existence. After a while I became friendly with Rob Diamond who asked me initially to maintain the upcoming cd list and that gradually morphed into other things. I stayed over the few years since then because I felt I was helping Rob with his endeavor, I had also made a number of acquaintances who where fun to be around and, more importantly, some very special friends are always a pleasure and a joy.
I'm calling Charles!

I was thinking about commenting on that as well. Nice work.
And an example of the acerbic sense of humor that is so great about Jose'.
I will see you at INTO THE WOODS then. It is a must.
Thank you for your answers, Jose. And thank you for being such a warm, generous member of this community!
I hope you were able to enjoy the little bit of your special day that you could last night. Here's a little bit of spring (which I do believe is right around the corner) in the form of a sprig of peach blossoms. I hope it helps to make the rest of the day sunny and bright for you!
