etoile, you little minx. I'm trying to step into your shoes but they are way too big. Still, I'm delighted to come out from BWW retirement and to take my moment in the spotlight.
Greetings, everyone. To those who have dropped by, thank you for saying hello. I'm afraid it's been a very busy morning for me. I'll not be able to answer specific quesitons before later today.
Feel free to pose your questions, however, I will respond before the day is done.
Cheers! José
p.s. Boobs, I shouldn't have waxed my head this morning, the crown keeps sliding down but I think I've got it now.
Congrats to Jose' - a man who is oft-criticized (yes, even been by myself at times) but who is, none the less, an excellent contributor to our community.
Jose' if you're still having problems with the crown let me know..I have my great-grandmother's hat pin that would look lovely with a newly shaved head.
Jose' I have always enjoyed your posts here.
I feel you did quite well in a thankless role.
Thank you for the well-wishes, etc.
I love our short communications, and look forward to meeting you down at NYU.
Which is my question:
Are you going to Into the Woods and when?
(I am certainly going, but have yet to pick the date.)
Jose,
1. For those of us who haven't had the pleasure of meeting you face to face, would you mind turning on the light a little into your life? In general terms, describe a typical work day and a typical day off.
2. What is your earliest memory?
3. What was the happiest, most secure moment in your life?
4. If you could go back for one day to any moment in time, where would you go and what would you do when you got there?
5. How did you happen to come to BWW and what made you stay? (I hope the 'retirement' talk is just that - talk!)
....more to come!
José,
What a welcome chance to get to know you a little better. Congrats!
Yes Jose'....when are WE seeing Into the Woods?..I so enjoyed the last NYU show we went to.
congrats, jose.
what is one story from your childhood that you tend to tell over and over again?

Congratulations to another founding member of the pariah table... And to a guy who, like me, found a lot to like the second time around at Caroline or Change.

I left the office early so that I could devote time to answering the questions that have accumulated throughout the day. I look forward to sharing my answers with you.

Jose. congrats on your day. So when is the next quiz?
Hugs and a plate full of cookies for our Jose'. I will be off for a bit but I am looking forward to reading your answers!!
Oops, I forgot to post my questions.
If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?
What has given you the most (non-sexual and non-criminal) pleasure in the last year?
If you could be anyone you wanted to be today, who would you be, and what would you do?
If someone gave you a million dollars, how would you spend it?
If your house were on fire, what would you grab on the way out?
If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?
What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?
Congrats, Jose!!!

Damn, now that I read the questions, I might be up all night trying to answer!
Boobs:
1st question....my usual....if you could interview 1 person (dead or alive) who would it be and what questions would you ask.
2nd question....what inspires you?
I'd interview Jesus. I would ask him questions such as:
when and what first caused him to question whether he was different from other children);
where did he draw his strength and grace that enabled him to live amid his life's daily challenges; and
if I could communicate one piece of his counsel to share with others who cared to listen what would it be

Jose,
If you were an automobile, what automobile would you be and why?
If you could have anyone over for dinner (more casual than an interview), who would it be and what would you serve them?

2. As a child I had a hero and a heroine. She is my first cousin who is about 5 years older than me, yet to my sister and me she was a goddess. We each called her, "My Miss America." She was, and is, gorgeous, loving, fun-loving, and generous in spirit. Her younger brother was my hero. He was a total juvenile delinquent, and I wanted to be so like him in every way, but it just wasn't in my nature. He used to hang his sisters dolls from the neck until dead from the venetian blind cords in his bedroom; and build guillotines using razor blades and then he'd scour the neighborhood for lizards and decapitate them. He went VietNam during the 60's and survived. He was fascinated by the American Cival War at the time so while he was overseas I used to write to him every week and send him paperback copies of Cival War non-fiction. He came back married his hometown sweetheart and went into law enforcement.
3. Favorite book as a child. Hmmmm. The earliest book I remember really liking was Toby Tyler, about some kid who went to the circus. I was a voracious reader as a child and by the time I was in high school and I reading all the time: plays and novels. My favorite novels during high school were GREAT EXPECTATIONS and A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Also Henry Miller's TROPIC OF CANCER, when I found it in a drawer in my dad's bureau. I read it in stolen moments. "Squish, squish." If you read it, you'll get it.
On a rainy Saturday there are many things I like to do. I like to be at home with Charles, either reading, or watching a movie with a bowl of popped-in-the-kettle pop corn, or listening to music. I also greatly enjoy taking a walk with in Central Park with Charles.
