So sad!
Why is a 4 year old playing on a treadmill? Alone?
This is horrible.

Such a tragedy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, and with the news network anchors who will now be forced to do round-the-clock "treadmill safety" pieces.
This is so awful. It's a terrible, tragic accident.
StockardFan, at four years, she could have gone into the room by herself to play with it. It's not like the parents turned it on and said "Have fun! I'll be in the other room!"

except, one of her parents is mike tyson, so that's ENTIRELY PLAUSIBLE.
I mean, let's face it, what shot at a normal life did she have growing up as mike tyson's daughter?
skittles, I know but her mother should have been paying attention to where she was. I'm a parent - I pay attention to where my son is.
I'm not saying I don't feel awful for the family, just that if it was me I'd never get over the guilt.
i have a hard time faulting other parents for anything less than wildly obvious stupidity or overt negligence. according to what i read, the treadmill wasn't even on. who knows what was going on there? they do and they will live with it.
tragic and it made me think of what tyson said after seeing the first screening of the new film documentary of him by james toback, "it's like a greek tragedy and they only problem is that i'm a subject."

This sounds like the kind of accident that parents worry about from the day their child is born. Every part of the house can become a death trap in your mind. So sad.
Since we don't know any details we can't really pass judgment.
Tragic.
I'm just glad he didn't eat her.

Pretty much. It's especially easy to lose track of a child when you have more than one little one. One's running left and the other is running right. A parent can turn their back for a moment and tragedy strikes. Someone my mother used to work with had their child pull the television down on top of himself. If I'm not mistaken she was in the room doing some sort of basic task like folding laundry. In the time it took her to jump up and hurry across the room it was too late.
Until a report comes out that the children were alone in the house or something similar I'm not going to blame the parents.
Exactly. Family friends lost their 5 year when the mother left her in the playroom to go answer the phone. She came back 10 minutes later to discover the girl had tried to jump rope on a playset and ended up strangling herself. These were toys in what was most likely the most childsafe room of their home.
It's a tragic accident and these parents will blame themselves every day of their life for what happened, but that doesn't mean it was their fault.
