I don't think I can agree that unawareness of Al Jazeera having an English-language outlet is quite the same thing as calling someone a n----r.

I really do try to keep some hope that the ignorance is not as widespread as I might think. But since I'm finding out that the 'Obama Bucks' group is based right where I live - and they are 'mainstream' business women - it's hard to not feel a little discouraged.

It's the notion that Al Jazeera instantly equals propaganda, that was stated and implied more than once in the thread that I found scary.

As it has very little reach within America, then it might be understandable to be unaware of the worlds third largest English speaking global 24 hour news network (CNN and BBC World being the other two) but it is ignorant to instantly claim their reports are propaganda without researching the source.

Bill O'Reilly has branded Al Jazeera a "propaganda network ... bent on encouraging violence and sympathetic to terrorists." but I would expect the fine folk of the off-topic board to be a little more informed of an award winning network that includes a ggeat many reporters and producers who have moved from CNN, NBC & BBC amongst others as well as broacasters such as Sir David Frost.

I think the last line of thetinymagic2 post sums it up

....'This clip is just propaganda.

.AljazeeraEnglish??? What exactly is this source??
Is this a Joke?
Real?
Certainly not any kind of journalism.
Beware anything on YouTube.

These "citizens" are just uneducated, therefore, ignorant.
So what else is new?'....

She used seven question marks in four sentences. That's enough for me to disregard a post.

I understood your point, Sister George. I'm still going to disagree, for the block.

Just to clarify, and I apologise if I'm labouring the point here, but in my original post I wasn't comparing the ignorance of an unawareness of Al Jazeera having an English-language outlet to calling someone a n----r.

The latter is just plain racist.

I was comparing the ignorance of the peoples misconceptions of Obama to peoples misconceptions here of one of the World's largest news broadcasters.

Yet even more hatred from a Palin rally. Someone here suggested that there was just a few bad seeds but I have lost count with all the racist and hate mongers at these Obama rally's.

They don't sound too much different from some of the McCain supporters on this board. I wonder what kinds of criminal behavior people like this will resort to when McCain loses.
