This is too good.

That guy is my new hero. We NEED more journalists like him!
And before you say anything Goth...a journalist pointing out a lie is not being partisan. He's doing his job.

Obama is gonna look like gold up against him. I've never seen Obama do anything like this.Mitt is defensive because he knows this guy is right on all counts.
SERIOUSLY! This is what I was talking about last night - Why are reporters so afraid to call these people on their bullshlt?!
I want to hug him. He works for CNN? That would be hard to believe.

not impressed - that reporter needs to come up with more than that if he's going to be taken seriously, instead he does come off as totally unprofessional
Fox News might hire him. Is Fox endorsing Rick Santorum? I know Old Man Murdoch sure is.
This may not qualify as a great gotcha moment.
However, since when is the press expected "not to get argumentative with the candidates?" WTF? Is that anyone's idea of a free press? Who was this clown at the end reprimanding this guy because he got "argumentative?"

These meet & greets are intended to facilitate interactions with voters. When media members are traveling with a campaign it's unprofessional of them to intrude in that manner on these public events and become part of the story instead of reporting on it. The major media has plenty of opportunity during debates and formal press conferences, as well as the ability to editorialize when composing their reports (tho' professional media outlets are expected to identify editorializing as such).
The 'clown' reprimanding the reporter is probably the campaign's PR manager. Editors don't like seeing this kind of behavior from their reporters, either, because they might end up losing access to the candidate.

Jeez, Yawper, you seem to be very hung up on rules and etiquette. The press is not supposed to be a division of campaign pr,
Also, you're complaints reek of another era when editors wouldn't KILL to have their reporters appear relevant in a video that goes viral.
If a candidate is misrepresenting his record or facts, I am glad that someone is calling shenanigans.
And, I thought the whole point was to report the truth, not worry about access.
A passive, unquestioning media is part of the problem.

The video is from 2008 and the reporter was from the AP, not CNN. He was just recently announced as the new political editor for the Boston Globe's boston.com website.
So, it is a 4 year old video posted by a Ron Paul supporter - Ha!
Whether posting it today is fair is another discussion, but I still don't have a problem with a reporter correcting the record.

Even if it is 4 years old, what's the problem? It shows the mans character. If a video of Obama surfaced from 20 years ago where he made an off the cuff remark that he didn't believe in Santa Claus the Republicans would crucify him saying he's anti Christmas, Religion and is an African demon.
Length of time since something was said or done is a non issue in politics. Your whole life is fair game now. (Unless you're a Republican, in that case you're just being unfairly attacked)

Yawper, I disagree with you. The press is not nor should they be excluded from this meeting. The press also has an important function in facilitating the information the voters get while meeting with the candidates. Romney, himself knowing this member of the press, called on him. He has just as much right to ask Romney a question and engage with Romney as anyone in that room. This is not an "intrusion." Most importantly, restrictions on the press are unconstitutional and a free press is a fundamental part of a free society, subject of course to rare qualifications, such as matters of national security, which are certainly not applicable here.
What's more hilarious is that he claims to not be influenced by lobbyists...then or now!
I certainly didn't see anything unprofessional in the behavior of the journalist. I sort of consider that to be the definition of his profession. We look to journalists to do some of the fact-finding for us which is why I don't consider anyone associated with Fox News to be a "journalist".
" "I oppose same-sex marriage. And that has been my, my view. But, but if, if people are looking for someone who -- who will discriminate against gays or will in any way -- try and suggest that people, that, that have different sexual orientation don't have full rights in this country, they won't find that in me."
Oh ok, Mitt. Because that sentence makes perfect sense, you dipshlt.
TO ANYONE who accused John Kerry of being a flip flopper back in 2004, I give you Mitt Romney!
