dented, you make several incorrect presumptions.
first of all, not everyone is "cherrypicking" so that their guy comes out in a positive light. many liberals/progressives do recognize, for instance, that clinton was a sexual predator. and that his handling of the rwandan genocide will leave an indelible mark on his presidency (something he himself has expressed).
it seems the majority of the LGBT community view obama as imperfect, and have been very critical of his administration. they also realize the alternative is too terrible to accept. on this board, for instance, there was great disappointment re: his stance on gay marriage at the start of his administration. but he was always explicit that he was for traditional marriage (while history will show he was lying to avoid persecution from the religious right).
you also err by implying that the bigotry pouring from the right is some kind of media fabrication to stir up ratings. it is not. bachmann and santorum are not just joking. the media is not putting words in their words. they are simply airing the words they are actually saying. the republican party was not just joking that those two could be president. they were really serious. you will recall the recent republican debates, where a soldier who happened to be gay asked what his rights would be under a republican administration. he was promptly booed by puerile idiots in the crowd, and the cowards on stage who presume to lead this country said not a word. the media did not make that up. that actually happened. vote for romney if you wish, but outright say it: you think he has a better economic plan, and if the rights of your LGBT friends need to take a backseat to that, so be it. but you should say that's what you think. i think every vote for that side validates that disgusting moral cowardice, as well as some of the worst behavior the country has seen in decades.
you and many others keep insisting that obama has been too partisan, and you bring up obamacare. it's shocking that any thinking person can keep doing that, since obamacare IS romneycare. people who support that position repeat the non sequitor that just because romney did it on the state level, he would never have applied it to a federal one. further, this was a recent article from the AP about how insurance companies stand to make billions from "obamacare:"

support the republican fascist social attitudes if you so wish. just don't say it's because obama has been partisan and it's all an illusion created by ratings hungry media.
