Monologues Vs. Solo Musical Theater...

Hey guys. I know that asking this question may be an utter detriment to my free will but I've never done anything like this before and I just want to attain some feedback.

Aiight.

Here goes:

I'm going to a Thespian Festival in about two months and they have several events you can do. At first, I was going to do a monologue but I really have never done a monologue for an audience before so now I'm thinking about experimenting with solo musical theater, which I also do not have much experience with. With a monologue, I would have to learn two contrasting pieces but I wouldn't have the fear and nervousness that always comes before I have to sing for someone. But with solo musical theater, I would only have to sing one piece but WOULD have the fear and nervousness that always comes before I have to sing for someone. So if any of you have done this before can advise me on which would be the better, and more fun, choice, please let me know.

This is 100% not a decision anyone can make for you... I would go musical theatre cuz I like singing better than doing monologues, but which do you think you can do better? which will you be more proud of? Will you regret not doing one if you do the other... which would you regret not doing?

Just think of questions for yourself and come up with an answer cuz it's completely up to you and how YOU feel about it.

re: Monologues Vs. Solo Musical Theater...

I did both last year and won 1st place in solo monologue, to me it was a lot easier than the solo song. I was slated to sing at 7:30 in morning and was singing Anthem from chess. That was not fun for anyone. The most important piece of advice I can give you is practice practice practice no matter what you do.
