I saw the show last night and had a good time. No denying Jasmine's star quality. Unfortunately it really goes off the rails in the 2nd act. Loved the big group numbers and when ever Betty was front and center. Would definitely rank this over Smash. My parents are coming into town in a few weeks, and I thought I’d look and see the the availability for their trip. The good news: the houses for the week they are in town are about 25% full. The Bad: I can’t justify $400 for orchestra seats. I am kind of surprised at how empty the houses are after previews. Granted if they get raves in a few days that might change, but for such a highly anticipated show I was really surprised to see how little of an advanced sale they seem to have.

The producers are, unfortunately, too busy diving into their advance ticket sales money like Scrooge McDuck

I was at Smash last night, and add me to the list of people who—while I had a good time—left thoroughly confused by the evening's events. The full cast was in, and everyone was singing, dancing, and acting their hearts out. I’ve really got to give flowers to Robyn Hurder, because what this show has done to Ivy is truly unhinged. The only way I see The Producers coming to Broadway is if someone wanted make more money with a flop than with a hit.... despite the reviews it was rough....

For the performances I have seen—Shen, Hilty/Simard, and Scherzinger—I can say that these women were firing on all cylinders when I watched them.Unfortunately, McDonald’s vocals were lacking, especially in the big numbers, which pulled me out of the world of the musical.If I were a voter, my vote would go to Shen.

Lol its because they could actually afford tickets to this production.

So yes when I saw the show 1st week of previews, Jim came out with his puppets, and it’s their meet cute.But at the end of that scene the screens came down and where the religious leaders would be later there were human sized versions of the puppets waving to everyone. Personally. Loved that part.

I hope the human sized puppets that come out of the Hollywood Square boxes get a shout out. is that spoiler?

This whole thing is giving such 2016 vibes. If your form of activism is boycotting her performance and switching to Mandy, absolutely do it. But to expend this much time and effort over an Instagram comment? It really feels like we’ve lost the thread. Saw Swept Away last night and thought it was beautifully sung, acted, and the direction was stunning. That being said, unfortunately, the story fell flat for me. Forty-five minutes into a one act show, the characters were still repeating the same things about themselves. Kudos to the creative team for really swinging for the fences with the show, but in the end, it didn’t quite hit the mark.
