For me, there are two candidates. The 40 Year Old Virgin, I knew, would be a decent funny movie but what I wasn't prepared for was the fact that it would be a GREAT and HILARIOUS movie.

Yet the even bigger surprise was Devil's Rejects, which I was sure was going to be a bad bad bad bad movie because I'm not a Rob Zombie fan and I heard nothing but bad about House of 1000 Corpses. Yet I had nothing to do one rainy day, so I just went ahead and saw it. And what I didn't know was that it was actually a comedy, albeit a very very dark one. I found it creative and funny which I truly was not expecting from the trailers which emphasized only the murdering angle.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

I expected it to be a run-of-the-mill gross-out comedy, but it turned out to be a very original, very funny and very touching movie.

I couldn't agree with you less on Devil's Rejects. I'm trying to think if a film has surprised me this year and I don't think any have. I think they have just disappointed.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I thought THE DEVIL'S REJECTS was deplorable.

YOU'RE deplorable! Kidding. I've always wanted to say that.

Yes, it was deplorable. And I loved it.

House of Wax??? seriously???

I thought Crash was excellent, and considering Sandra Bullock and Brennan Fraser were in it, I think it's a surprise.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

He's just saying that because it gave Paris Hilton some new boobs and then impaled her. What more can one ask for??

House of Wax??? seriously???

Absolutely. I walked in with minimum expectations, and was surprised to see a really fun, gory, well-made slasher movie. It was the first satisfying movie I saw all year, other than Sn City.

Oddly enough, I didn't like Crash.

PS - Tiff, you've got me all figured out. Updated On: 11/5/05 at 04:00 PM
