"Mother?....Mother?....where are you?" -- BAMBI's coming

I don't know where I've been, but just saw where the special platinum DVD edition of BAMBI is going to be released on Tuesday next.

I don't know if I can do it -- that pivotal scene just tears me up -- even at my age. I'm such a sap. It is a beautiful piece of animation, though -- the whole film, that is.

While Bambi is really sad, I think Dumbo is just traumatic. When they chain the mother up I can't take it

But I do love Bambi, especially the skunk

Don't forget the Evil Queen's transformation - her hands becoming yellowed claws...

And when Lampwick and the other boiys are turned into donkeys in PINOCCHIO..thats the most terrifying moment in all Disney animation.

The scene in Cinderella when the stepsisters rip her dress and the stepmother just watches used to freak me out when I was little too

How freaky was "Pink Elephants on Parade"? Jesus.

The shot of Cruella DeVil's face, with the concentric circles in her eyes just before she crashes her car, used to scare the crap out of me.

Critic Richard Shickel of TIME magazine brilliantly described Cruella deVil as "Auntie Mame as drawn by Charles Addams."

Disney withdrew ALICE IN WONDERLAND from 16mm rentals in the late 1960s when they learned it was a campus favorite to watch while stoned.

Does anybody here know THE THREE CABALLEROS?
It's Disney animation at its trippiest and most bizarre.

Many years ago, Theatre 80 showed it on a double bill with THE GANGS ALL HERE.

At the end of The Fox and the Hound, when they are both looking forlornly at the sky and that conversation from their youth wafts over.

"You're my best friend, Copper."
"And you're mine, too, Todd."
"And we'll always be friends forever, won't we?"
"Yeah, forever."

I swear I am going to be working that out in therapy years from now! And don't even get me started on Old Yeller! He really was the best doggone dog in the west!!!!!!

Oh God! Old Yeller absolutely killed me. And I had a crush on Tommy Kirk, too.

"Baby Mine" in Dumbo destroys me as well.

And does anyone get chills during the "Sanctuary" scene in Hunchback?

I forgot that the scene in the Fox and the Hound where she takes Todd to the animal reserve totally gets to me too. I seriously cannot hold back the tears on that part.

No one kills a parent off better than Disney!
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien
