Bosses at Warner Bros. have reportedly paid out half a million dollars to ensure Daniel Radcliffe is free to promote the final "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" movie later this year. The second installment of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is due to open in London in July, but the film's star Radcliffe is signed up to appear in this year's revival of Broadway play "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying".
It means the actor might not have been available to fulfill promotion duties for the closing chapter in the wizard franchise - so Warners chiefs have reportedly stitched up a deal to "buy" the Hirschfeld Theater, where the play is staged, for up to five nights to keep Radcliffe free.
A source tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "This is the final film, so it's a big deal. A grand world »

From what I heard, they still haven't decided what they will do with all the tickets for these 5 performances.
It always makes me laugh when I see movie studios paying a ton of money for promotion that is just so unnecessary.
Wait, there's another Harry Potter movie coming out?
Run a couple of ads on tv saying "HP7" and the date, and the movie will STILL be number one for the year.

He'll get a chance to mention the Broadway production, so it's win-win-win.
With al the money that movie will bring in, added to it the licensing of products etc. $500,000.00 is really chump change.
They should use that $500,000 to pay for the cast recording.
