Why is it that whenever a movie is set in the south or has a southern character, they always hire a northerner or a foreign person? 95% of the time, the over exaggerate the accent to the point of annoyance and a lot (Spelled right for Rath ) of people get the idea that we sound like a Georgia woman from the Revolutionary War era. Why don't they get a real southerner to play these parts?

Because the Southern actors can never remember the lines.
That is perpostrous. To forget lines, you must first be able to read.
Wait. Are you saying people from the south have no acting ability?

I think there might have been an implication that Southerners aren't very bright. Not that this thread would demonstrate that or anything.
Why thank you so much for pointing that out, Namo. What ever would we do without you?

Don't mention it. I'm from the North.

I know what you mean. Everytime I see a movie with Julia Roberts or Andie McDowell I cringe.
