when i saw Lars & the Real Girl (the last movie i saw in the theatres), i believe i paid $9.00 as well. but this was on a Tuesday night. it's more on the weekend, i believe.
It's six dollars if I go to see a matinee at a local theatre. It usually costs me anywhere from eight-nine dollars if I'm going at night.
"I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and dreamer of improbable dreams." - Doctor Who
"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
Highest price at the local is $8.00 on Friday and Saturday nights after 6 PM. It is $5.00 all day Tuesday and at the first showing of the day. Students w/ID pay $6.50
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."
Conan O'Brien
At my local Regal Cinemas here in the DC suburbs the regular adult price is $9.50 and $8.00 for matinees. The student discount price is $7.50.
"You drank a charm to kill John Proctor's wife! You drank a charm to kill Goody Proctor!" - Betty Parris to Abigail Williams in Arthur Miller's The Crucible
It's about $10.25-$10.50 in San Francisco. Discount tickets all vary though, a lot of huge theatres here (Century, Metreon) offer a $6 bargain matinee M-F, and most offer student discounts that usually come out to be around $8-$9 at night.
I don't know other theatres there, but im on fandango right now looking for midnihgt sweeneys, and apparently Court Street Stadium in brooklyn (a UA theatre) has $8 matinee's til 3 or 4 during the week and 10.75 for all other times. I may start going to brooklyn for movies... scratch that. AMC Magic Johnson in Harlem has the same prices, and its only 2 subway stops from me (1 if i walk to saint nick and take the a or d) in stead an hour and 15 minutes
My local cinema (Odeon, Southampton, England) is £7.40 a ticket ($15) then £3 each for popcorn and a drink. Seeing Hairspray 5 times cost me a lot, I hope once I see Sweeney Todd I don't want to rush and see it again
