Posted: 4/26/10 at 10:08pmStock- love your choices! I LOVE that scene in SOM when they tell each other they love each other- LOVE IT! I LOVE An Affair to Remember when Cary Grant is talking to her in her apartment and he slowly walks back to her bedroom to see the painting hanging up (and I love that scene in Sleepless in Seattle when Rita Wilson is describing it to the guys at the table). Oh- I'm such a sap! I even like The Mirror Has Two Faces when Jeff Bridges realizes he is really in love with Barbra Streisand's character! I'll have to think of some others! I'm still such a sap- and so cheesy!

Marquise, that's a great movie. I originally watched it in its original title and language as "Como agua para chocolate." What a delicious title is that? Those who don't speak Central American Spanish won't get the reference, but all the same it's a great title.
The most romantic scene for me are when Gertrudis gets so overwhelmed with Tita's "rose petal sauce" recipe that she ends up joining the Mexican Revolution and at the very end, which I won't spoil for those who've not seen the movie or read the book in their entirety.
I've always thought this story was ripe for musicalization.
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia
