go UARTS!!!
one of the most wonderful things about uarts, is that you really get training in all 3 aspects of musical theater. The musical theater majors take the same acting training with the acting majors and the school does many straight plays in addition to musicals. However, this is not at the expense of the singing and dance programs. It has the most wonderful faculty who are constructive and honest, but still nurturing and just amazing. feel free to PM me with any questions about it....sometimes uarts is a little bit of an unknown MT program, but it shouldn't be because it is amazing. and philadelphia is the best city to study theater in (this is coming from a native new yorker who has lived in new york her whole life). the reason i say it is better than new york to study theater is because we are literally right across the street from all the theaters in phily and they all have INCREDIBLE student discounts (i'm talking 5 and 10 dollars). i saw more shows this past year than i could have imagined and for no money. yes, new york has rushes and lotteries, but it's gonna cost you a lot more and there is no guarantee...haha. but yeah, go uarts and feel free to PM me

If you are looking for a triple threat school, then I agree with everyone else that it is Oklahoma City University. They are the only major MT university where you take dance from an actual school of dance - not an collection of dance teachers whoare hired by the theater department. At OCU, you take dance classes from the OCU Lacy School of American Dance which trains Broadway dancers (there was like 10 of them in the recent 42nd Street revival).
Two words tell ya ll you need to know: Chenoweth and O'Hara. Nuff said.

Posted: 6/16/07 at 2:23amI'm surprised U of Central FL isn't even more revered than it is. It's practically impossible to get into. I auditioned for them and they only took 8 girls and 8 guys... 16 total. And if they couldn't find, for example, 8 guys but only 6 or 7, they'll take 8 anyway, not another girl or two. And this was out of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds who auditioned. I think that's one of the lowest acceptance rankings in the country. But I guess how many they take in isn't necessarily the best judge of how good their program is, but it definitely gives a clue.

CMU's MT program takes an average of 10 a year. It's generally 10 MTS, and 20 actors.
The production program is also great. LOTS of work.
And Byorkman, we have different levels of dance. Not everyone is placed in the same class.
CMU's MT program is very acting based. We share the same curriculum as the actors PLUS singing and dancing Freshman year, and from there we kind of split off, but we have share acting class with the actors. In fact, MTs are technically actors, with the "MT Option"...
It's great program.

I love the school but people (most of them being people rejected from Emerson so I've taken it with a grain of salt)have told me that Emerson grads are typically not cast and are considered to be "know-it-alls" Please tell me this is just jealousy speaking
